I realize you are no fan of state employees speaking up about what is happening to us, but here is one point I would like to see made. I have spoke on several occasions with my state rep regarding the pension mess. (I contacted my state senator’s office but apparently the senate minority leader is way to busy to call back the fool who voted for her). My rep like all politicians do not want to talk blame they want to tell us about “share sacrifice”. I understand the fiscal realities, and I believe changes are 100% necessary to preserve some form of a retirement for the employees that have contributed without fail to the pension system. But if we have to sacrifice then I also believe the politicians should scarifies. (No not boiled in hot oil - to easy for them). They should do the one thing a politician fears most, they should have to stand in front of every TV camera in Il. and be made to tell the truth. They should stand up and take responsibility for the fiscal mess they have created. They should walk on stage in front of the citizens of Il. and say, yes for the past 30 yrs. we have failed to do our job, we lied to you the citizens each year when we voted on smoke and mirror budgets. We knew Il could not afford the budgets we passes, we were either to stupid and or to lazy to care about it. We had no backbone to stand up to bullies like Madigan, Jones, Cullerton and Daley as they raped and pillaged the state of Illinois. If the employees have to have shared sacrifice then should not the politicians at least have to tell the voters the truth about how we got here.
One other thing, Quinn wants to cut our health care and make us pay more for it, great the only thing I ask in return is this, for the money presently being held out of my check for medical and dental, and for the additional money they will soon be taking out, please reimburse me for some of the thousands bills I have had to pay out of pocket because the state insurance is not paying. My doctors and dentist require us to pay up front because the insurance (for which I pay for out of my check) fails to pay in some cases 12 -16 months. I know I know Rich, like Blogo once said shut up an be happy you have a job. Believe me I thrilled to have invested 27 years of my life into this job only to be treated like I caused this issue.
