Quinn Preps For Busy Week in Springfield
* And this is how he’s prepping, according to the station…
Ahead of a busy week in Springfield, Gov. Pat Quinn marched Monday in the Park Ridge Memorial Day Parade and headed off to Wrigley Field to continue honoring veterans.
So, a parade and a ballgame at a decrepit stadium is how he’s preparing for the week? The Senate was in session until 8 o’clock last night, for crying out loud.
…Adding… And what the heck was that Pravdaesque headline writer thinking? This ain’t the Soviet Union, man.

I found it off-putting that the GA was in session on Memorial Day. It’s rather disrespectful, actually.
They have plenty of days to get their work done — and it’s not like all 177 members are critical to the tasks at hand.
I don’t have a problem with any governor taking the day for its intended purpose.

I wonder if Springfield had a nice parade for Quinn to march in. I mean he lives in Springfield right that’s what he told us all.

Governor on one hand I have to give you credit, showing respect for vets is not a dance you are a Johnny come lately to by any means and you deserve respect for that.
But, the time is now over for you to attend parades near your home (which I thought was Springfield since that is where your underthings are) or give pension speeches at middle schools. The time is now for you to get down to Springfield and stay down in Springfield until the stuff you said you were going to focus on day or night is done.
Wordslinger I kind of agree with you but I suspect there was a Memorial Day parade or two outside the Chicago media market that he could have attended and spent some time in the capitol as well on Monday

Most legislators from around here seem to have been at Memorial day ceremonies and parades in the morning, and then right in their cars to Springfield. It’s about an early start on Tuesday.

Legislative sessions on Memorial Day, especailly when that day falls a few days before May 31, are fairly common. And in some years, if they GA was not in session, there were meetings and other activities, sometimes including the Governor’s office (I am remembering a couple of the Ryan years here) that at least some personnel from the agencies were called into. It’s easier to monitor sessions now with the audio/video links to the chambers, and this year especially with this blog’s live feed comments.

Why? The private, uber-capitalist owners knew what they were getting into.
They shelled out $850 million for the team and stadium. They draw 3 million a year.
It’s fascinating to see the reliably, allegedly “fiscal conservative” regulars here go all weepy and mushy for the poor Ricketts and their broken toybox.
Tax increases. Deficits. Medicare cuts. Why are we even talking about this?
