So, the other x number of pension (reform or tweaking) proposed bills that have been introduced in the past month are ok, but this one is meandering?

The ultimate “LAME DUCK” still has an opinion? Just get out of the way,keep your mouth shut and let the legislature do its job. Your job is to sign this, or anything else they come up with, into law only.

Quinn Introduces the Meandering Act of 2013 during his State of the State address:
“Ladies and gentlemen off the general assembly, both the senate and the house, justices, distinguished guests, farmers, good hard working factory workers, accountants, lawyers, journalists, weatherman, housewives, students, maids, tradesmen and Rich Miller, today I am calling to your attention a problem we have in Illinois. A real problem. A serious problem. A problem that affects all of us in Illinois. A good state where people work hard making things and grow crops. Nurses, carpenters, state workers, botanists, sewer workers. People with real problems. People who government can help. We are not focused. Today I am announcing I am introducing to you for your consideration the meandering Act of 2013. From this point on, by law we will be required to focus on solving problems. Real problems. The problems the people expect us to solve. All across Illinois there are farmers, growing soybeans and corn. Raising cattle and pigs. Men are building bridges and paving roads. Mothers drive their small children to school and soccer practice. Businessmen starting new ventures to briong new jobs to Illinois, a great state, a state where people work hard, living their lives, working hard. We need to do all we can to bring jobs to Illinois. We need to partner with business and build bridges with other countries so Illinois can be at the forefront of growth.”

Could the only difference here be who proposed it (Quinn doesn’t like how Lang advocates for casino expansion)?

This proposal might actually be the closest to being able to pass constitutionally which would make the bond rating agencies happy so OF COURSE Quinn doesn’t like it…

Ditto to Formerly Known As@ 12:48 pm. And although finally bringing on Medical Marijuana’s safe usage into Illinois is well-overdue now, and one of Lou’s legislative objectives, I said it in a Comment yesterday, and I’ll repeat it that a 3% Increase in Govt. Employees’contributions in his version of a Pension Bill is just asking too much!! Especially when the Ground-Zero site of the origination and primary cause of this pension mess we’re in now-which was known about MANY years ago, ignored, put off, and then spiralled out of control-can be found in the very place they need to FIX the mess: Springfield!! But to place an inORdinate financial burden on those modestly-compensated Workers in the trenches while the “Generals” in their Ivory Towers were asleep at the wheel, is just plain wrong!! A 2% increase is PLENTY!!
