* Talk radio thrives during the day. Not so much in the evenings, when people are home and are watching TV or surfing the Internet. Just three of the top 16 talk radio programs air in the evening. So, a 7-9 pm time slot ain’t exactly ideal…
If Joe Walsh doesn’t become the next Rush Limbaugh, at least he’ll have fun trying.
Either way, the former congressman and tea party firebrand is about to embark on a new radio career that could lead to national syndication or to another bid for elective office. Even he’s not sure which.
As first tipped here in January, Walsh has agreed to sign on as a Monday-through-Friday talk show host on WIND-AM (560), the Salem Communications conservative news/talk station. If all goes as planned, his show will air from 7 to 9pm, starting March 18. […]
In the latest Arbitron survey, WIND ranks 34th in the market with a 0.6 percent share of listeners and a cumulative weekly audience of 178,400. The station, which recently rebranded itself “AM 560 The Answer,” has only two local shows on its weekday lineup — John Howell and Amy Jacobson in mornings and Cochran in late afternoons. Walsh’s will be the third. To accommodate the addition, WIND is expected to move syndicated host Hugh Hewitt to 9pm, with the rest of the nighttime lineup shifting two hours later.

I understand it is an impossible feat, but the GOP needs to work to keep these guys off the radio, They have driven more people away from the conservative movement than they’ve attracted.

Maybe a profile in courage like Sen. Dillard could denounce Walsh and encourage his constituents not to listen to him. Radio kind of needs listeners to make money.
Then again, Dillard’s only real difference with Walsh is that he keeps quieter. At least Joe puts it out there for all to see.

I don’t, but when people associate your party with extremists like Walsh, don’t whine about it if you’re not willing to do something about it.
My party doesn’t have a problem with being affiliated with Walsh, they’ve already denounced him repeatedly.

Funny. I remember listening to the radio and hearing a few extreme liberals on the talk show, too. If I didn’t like what I heard, I simply switched to another station. As a matter of fact, can’t even remember the names of the hosts, but I guess I’ll have to next time so that I can provide EMS with examples of Dem “radicals” who are hurting the Dem’s “brand.”
Or, maybe, I just won’t bother because I appreciate the differences in the two parties and don’t really aspire to be a Dem.

So I guess that means - Anonymous -, that you see Walsh as “extreme” too, and since you are going to provide some that are damaging the Dems, you then recognize that Walsh DOES hurt the brand.
Heck, I agree with you, If I don’t like it, I turn it, but turning it doesn’t mean it isn’t hurting.
I hope he makes millions. I know I won’t specifically listen to him, but… to each their own.

I will say though, that in a strange sort of way, I find the “tinkering” some of our revered GOP leaders did in the 8th CD race quite intriguing.
I often wonder whether this was their strategy all along, or just a botch up. Doesn’t matter, I’m sure. They’ll take credit for it either way, depending on which audience they’re talking to, though some might still not appreciate their “tinkering” in the Primary as much as they did–whatever the results.
