  1. From the stream: “Illinois AG Lisa Madigan announces her office will distribute $500,000 to food banks across IL to help feed families and people in need.”

This is a good thing. But where is the money coming from in the A.G.’s office? Is it detracting from other functions and duties of the office?

I thought the function of the Attorney General’s office had to deal with the law, while other agencies addressed poverty, hunger and other pressing (and depressing) issues.

I hate the fact that we must even ask such questions because of Lisa’s likely run for Governor.

Is this part of the job description?

Or is this part of Lisa’s campaign for Governor?

Hopefully more details will be forthcoming.

  2. Hearing the debate on SB 2404 I’m ashamed of today’s Republican party and especially ashamed of the Senate Republicans. I’m happy that despite my opposition Linda Holmes was able to get re-elected to make such a fine speech today.

To hear Radogno get up and say that one of the reasons for her opposition is that it will make it harder to take away health benefits in the future sickened me.

I wonder how many members of the Senate Republican caucus can look their legislative aides and staff in the face and tell them they’re appreciated after making it clear that their financial interests are meaningless to them.

Does she NOT understand that all it gives is “access” which can mean next to nothing in dollars that the State would have to pay?!! We all know that the State will eventually make the workers/retirees pay the majority, if not all of the premium! Access is really nothing after Obamacare kicks in. I so want to say something here, but don’t want banned from the board please, so I won’t!
