  1. Where’s the rest of the press corps on stuff like this? Where’s DH Statehouse?

Comment by Michelle Flaherty Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:39 pm

  2. Shake that thang!

Comment by Empty Suit Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:47 pm

  3. Rahm appears to love that chair in front of him.

Comment by Dirt Diver Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:48 pm

  4. Check out how he removes and then carefully folds his tie while he “dances.”

    Heh.

Comment by Rich Miller Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:50 pm

  5. I hope he at least bought that chair dinner before the show….. and stayed to cuddle afterwards.

Comment by grand old partisan Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:51 pm

  6. Too busy dancing to tweet.

Comment by DHStatehouse Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:52 pm

  7. Dance to the Music!

Comment by Amalia Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:53 pm

  8. Other than seconding Rich’s point about the tie, I can’t come up with a thing to say here that wouldn’t get deleted.

    Party on, Mr.Mayor.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:54 pm

  9. How pathetic. He’s just standing/dancing alone in the middle of an empty row of chairs.

Comment by Whatever Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:54 pm

  10. “We paid how much for Rahm’s dance lessons? Jeez. Money down the drain, Martha… money down the drain…” — Dr. Benjamin M. Emanuel

Comment by MrJM Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:56 pm

  11. This will drag him down just like Judy Barr and the Polka.

Comment by Anonymous Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 2:57 pm

  12. Only thing missing was the white man’s overbite.

Comment by And I Approved This Message Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:02 pm

  13. Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer!

Comment by Paul Lynde for the Block Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:06 pm

  14. You can actually see the white man’s overbite around 0:58.

Comment by Anonymous Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:07 pm

  15. Hey Rahm,

Nothing wrong with the being the awkward guy not dancing or moving. Next time you dance, make sure you are in the a dimly lit area surrounded by other dancing people….And alcohol wouldn’t hurt either.

Comment by Denim Chicken Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:07 pm

  16. Dance like nobody is watching

Comment by Rock on Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:13 pm

  17. Now that music and arts education have been cut in CPS, how will the students learn to dance like that?

Comment by anon Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:13 pm

  18. You think Rahm has seen the video for this song?

Comment by What is to be done? Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:13 pm

  19. Got to be him. No one else would dress like that at an outdoor concert.

Comment by walkinfool Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:17 pm

  20. In all fairness he was a ballerina right?

Comment by Farker Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:33 pm

  21. the video is kind of creepy and voyeristic. i felt strange after watching it. as for rahm, i like that he’s out at a concert in the park. say what you want, but the guy takes the el to work, dances to concerts in the park, goes to taste of chicago — he’s a mayor who actually lives in his city.

Comment by anon Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:34 pm

  22. Its not Swan Lake you know, then he’d kick ….

Comment by Loop Lady Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:40 pm

  23. It made me smile. That’s a summer song if ever there was one and its burning up on the charts. Rahm was on beat and he had the “white man look serious and bite your lip when you are really about to get down” face. Of course, that look could have been because of the woman in front of him. Lol! If Obama can dance with Ellen on her show, then the mayor can boogie at the Taste! Matter of fact, it should be required!

Comment by sideline watcher Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:41 pm

  24. I’m more upset with the vertical video then his terrible dancing.

Comment by Dee Lay Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 3:46 pm

  25. Eh, I found this diverting, but I agree with anon that it’s kind of cool to have a mayor of Chicago who takes part in the great stuff the city has to offer. He certainly isn’t hiding in the bunker.

Comment by Soccermom Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 4:01 pm

  26. If this was a pol trying to get “I am down with the people” points because he knew the camera was on him, I would roll my eyes, but this just seems like a guy who is enjoying himself in a totally unaffected way. That is a good thing. The man could use a good thing or two right now.

Comment by Montrose Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 4:07 pm

  27. Not many other people are doing anything in this video but standing, although the woman in front of Emanuel is dancing. Apparently though Emanuel was once quite the concertgoer.

  28. It looks like he’s trying to twerk.

Comment by schwartzee Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 4:35 pm

  29. lol I kind of found the video creepy and voyeristic, too. After watching the interaction with the chair and when he went for the tie, I thought Rich had posted a prank and the guy was going to rip off his shirt and pants and jump on a chair to entertain a bride-to-be and her entourage who were located in the row from where the video was being taken. (Not that I’d understand why someone would hire an Emmanuel lookalike, but to each his own.)

As I realized there was a possibility that it was in fact Emmanuel, I not only wanted that minute or two of my life back, and almost began to feel sorry for him because of the invasion on his privacy. But then I figured he (and/or his “PR” folks) might like the publicity.

Comment by Anonymous Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 4:49 pm

  30. I would absolutely hire an Emanuel lookalike for my next party.

Comment by Soccermom Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 5:17 pm

  31. Wait until Rahm starts his Al Greene rendition of “I’m So In Love With You” while doing the Soupy Sales Shuffle. That came a little later that evening after a few glasses of wine.

    Comment by A Casual Observer Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 5:23 pm

  32. strange Moments of Zen are always a reminder that the feature started under Craig Kilbourn, first host of The Daily Show, though it was probably created by Liz Winstead and her co creator whose name escapes me. still miss The Cow Says Moo….

Comment by Amalia Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 6:44 pm

  33. Madeline Smithburg and Lizz Winstead. they get not nearly enough credit for The Daily Show.

Comment by Amalia Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 6:44 pm

  34. Too funny. CapFax is the best entertainment value for the money.

Comment by Samurai Thursday, Jul 18, 13 @ 8:13 pm

  35. Couldn’t he have procured better seats?

I mean they allowed Ashton Kutcher backstage, his brother is one of the most powerful person in the entertainment industry, and it is… ya know… his festival.

I guess he is just a man of the people and wanted to boogy with the normies.

Comment by Jimmy CrackCorn Friday, Jul 19, 13 @ 8:33 am

  36. He was grooving on the white skirt. It’s a good thing the chair was there between them.

Comment by Tequila Mockingbird Friday, Jul 19, 13 @ 8:45 am

  37. This almost makes up for the “moment of zen” with the blonde conservative on the side of the road. Almost.

Comment by Yossarian Lives Friday, Jul 19, 13 @ 8:47 am

  38. He definitely missed his calling!;)
