Thats awesome. But its in addition to. Maybe we can put the given name in really really fine print and just stick with “Oswego Willy!”

Comment by RonOglesby Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 12:57 pm

  7. OSWEGO Willy shows the downstate voters that he’s not from Chicago and the Chicago voters know he’s not from DuPage.

An All-Star, rock star, blue chip, staff could be formed from the talent on this site.

My Fly-Around would be at fully-sanctioned Italian bakeries, with Cannoli available…

I would be the first candidate that I can think of that would need protection … from other elected officials…

I have exactly the same stances as Bruce Rauner today….

I have a Jum Edgar Picture I can carry with me to offset Kirk Dillard … no, just a picture of Edgar, not us together …

I named a car I had once “Jenny”, like Forrest Gump, as to connect withe Rutherford supporters….

I play a drinking game where you have to name Brady Bunch episodes without repeating an episode …

I have a Purple Golf shirt …I know it’s not a tie, but hey, the tie is a Quinn thing …

I have banked at a Chase … so Bill Daley supporters can feel at ease …

We get the right election lawyer, we may not have to shut down the office.

I would reach out to Leaders Cross and Radogno, ask them how they see my candidacy helping … do the opposite and get them closer to majorities.

I would NOT …not …golf on election day.

After painstaking seconds, nay, almost a minute and a half, I have decided to go in a different direction with a running mate. The Birdhouses and wooden totem poles are very nice, and you seem to have them ready pretty quickly, my decision is final so please stop with the tweets about ‘BFF’ and all.

Good luck with that new Monopoly game you are trying to take to market. Still, as I reiterated in my Restraining Order to you, clear the names throught the …’Banker-Lawyer’ … your Dad was kind enough to let you have around.

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 1:44 pm

  37. RNUG

Come on why worry about Oppo research. Pretty Sure Willy never headed a bank that got federal bailouts, doesn’t have a father and brother as mayor of Chicago, and has a pulse. That is pretty much all you need to be better than PQ ain’t it??

As far as the R side does it matter what they find?? With the maybe exception of Rutherford the rest of them would only help him if they challenged him. As in “hey it could be worse you could elect Bill Brady”.

Comment by Mason born Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 1:48 pm

  38. Gee Willy, you did it again. I was hoping that Jason’s dad would donate the wood for the soapbox.

We need a field operation. You started all of us down this path of disater, that is still better than “Anybody”, but worse than all the announced candidates….so, when you recruit the organization, tell them you have no idea what I will do if I win, but … honestly… can the others say they know 100% what they are going to do either?

    Try that out…

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 1:51 pm

  40. - Norseman -

Oh no, Mr. Plummer is on-board. He wants Jason to get an agency job or something so Jason can move out and get off the Payroll at RP Lumber. I jat had to let the kid down easy.

    - Mason Born -,

Your analysis may have merit, unless the candidate is a complete Dope … like me.

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 1:55 pm

  41. OW,

Here’s part of your platform. Promise to solve the pension problem … by rehiring all the retired workers. No money going out of the pension funds and more money going in. As a plus, you’ll get people who know how the agencies are actually supposed to function … which is more than can be said for the first several years of the Blago administration.

As to where you come up with the money to pay the new salaries …. you’ll probably have to raise taxes, but don’t tell them that until after the election. Then you can promise all the new tax money will be used for “services” instead of to fund the pensions.

Comment by RNUG Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 1:58 pm

  42. I would be all in for making a Willy, especially a Willy with common sense and strong covictions. Plus it would be fun to referring to O. W. as “our Willy”

Sorry about the 5th grade humor, but he would be by far the best available candidate if he did run .

I would be happy to serve as his DOT head but only if I don’t have to freeze my pension and go into the tier 2 system ;-)

Comment by Roadiepig Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 1:59 pm

Woah! I was thinking about runnig like Rauner and not say anything, and governing like Cross and just work around my golf schedule …(j/k)

To your post for the brief second of no snark…

The serious problems of government in Illinois do not include the actual state workres, as a whole, be they appointees, holdovers, career agency folk, and the blue collar state workers who do their job without complaint or issue.

It all boils down to leadership in the General Assembly, the Mansion, and the wasting of opportunity after opportuinity to makes things better. Its not a partisan problem.

    to the Mocking …

Will this make Oswego the center of all things Illinois Government too? That would be fun.

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 2:13 pm

  48. I do know - Bill - and I take a mean picture of the back of our heads … that has to be a plus in some way …

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 2:15 pm

  49. Willy would probably have to take a pay cut.

In all candor, I would be more likely to vote for Willy and several other commenters on this site over PQ, Rauner, Dullard, B Daley or any of these others.

    I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Comment by Jake From Elwood Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 2:16 pm

  50. - Jake for Elwood -

I will sy this, first, thanks, but more importantly, second, the talent, the honest talent found here, not the newspaper post boards with Facebook and ranting, but here … there is enough talent here to run a very credible state government. Many here are doing just that, many are out of government focused on other endeavors in and out of government, and those with no government experience and they keep up with those inside speaks vloumes to how great this place is, and it should give solace that if the ship get set right, it will be back sailing for a better future.

That is why no newspaper, partisan blog, or national website can’t compare …

    To the snark …

    - Norseman -,

Run this campaign like “Resovoir Dogs”, allowing everyone anonymity. Seems to work on the Rich’s site well enough.

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jul 30, 13 @ 2:27 pm

  51. OW,

I’m a retired state employee and the 1:58 pm post was written with tongue firmly in cheek. But you have to admit it SOUNDS like a serious policy position that might work, until you start to analyze it …

Back to the non-serious commenting … if you’re writing off Chicago voters from the start, you could campaign on moving non-public contact state workers out of Chicago to cheaper facilities to save money. You would appear fiscally responsible. You don’t have to tell them you plan for that location to be Oswego, and that all the CapFax advisers already have taken options on the available properties.

BTW Willy, if you’re gonna walk Illinois like Dan, you better get started. Just make sure you are legally packing a gun under the concealed carry law.

  83. OW,

Since I didn’t see a list of priorities or campaign promises, I took the liberty to draw up a proposed set of campaign promises:

I promise to fully fund the schools, allowing local school property taxes to be eliminated.

I promise to improve public safety.

    I’ll build better roads.

I’ll attract new business to Illinois.

I’ll reduce welfare because all the new business will need to hire workers.

I’ll fully fund the current pensions while changing the system going forward.

And I’ll do all this without raising your taxes; it will all be paid for with other people’s money.

If I missed a promise to any voter group, consider it made.

And furthermore, I promise to not keep my campaign promises.

Do I send the bill to AA or Norseman? I forget which one is your campaign coordinator.

I think we are running a “Rauner Campaign of Ignorance” on issues, so please Bill the Con$ulting Firm if you want us to use these to get your fee, but…

I would suggest you tell the Con$ulting Firm, which I am no longer *cough* a member of, that you will take DOUBLE the fee agreed, if you - RNUG -, burn this list and never speak of actual platform again.

Go with the latter, I mean in reality, Rauner is funding the Con$ulting Firm who is paying the Accounts Payable …right?

  87. Willy, I’m glad you had fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the thread as well. You were also the star in more than one way. Thanks for playing along.

Of course the recent trend continues where campaign announcements/discussions are overshadowed by another big issue.

I also need to thank Rich for enabling my goofiness.

  88. OW,

List? What list? “I know nothing” … just don’t transpose the account numbers I sent for the funds transfer.

A bit of free advice: I think a Rauner style campaign is a sure loser. If you’re going to lose anyway, you should have fun doing so. I think you should try a “Ross Perot on steroids” campaign approach; think of the fun you could have making outrageous statements …
