What is @RebootIllinois' mission? To bring people together to make a positive change in #Illinois! http://t.co/R8s0tGRzZX #twILL

Just in: Judge orders @GovernorQuinn to pay the #politicians…Plus interest! http://t.co/WUKIsyuplC #twILL #news

— Reboot Illinois (@rebootillinois) September 26, 2013

A bit contradictory, no?

* On the other hand, Rep. Ron Sandack was clear and concise…

The Court's reasoned opinion reassures us that the clear provisions of our state constitution, including separation of powers, is maintained

— Ron Sandack (@RonSandack) September 26, 2013

@capitolfax says Quinn will appeal. That would be a mistake because he'd lose again; & that loss would be far more significant & lasting.

— Ron Sandack (@RonSandack) September 26, 2013

@KwameRaoul @AmandaVinicky Wouldn't it be great if the Governor "who was put on earth to solve the pension crisis" worked w/ the committee?

— Ron Sandack (@RonSandack) September 26, 2013

* But the fake Speaker Madigan was the best by far…

So Pat, any other bright ideas? Before you respond, please know that I'm being facetious.

— Da Speaker (@SpeakerMadigan) September 26, 2013

Would someone please bring an oxygen tank to the Tribune Editorial Boardroom.

— Da Speaker (@SpeakerMadigan) September 26, 2013

I've been asked, "Can we resume ignoring the Constitution now?" I'll have to get back to you on that.

— Da Speaker (@SpeakerMadigan) September 26, 2013

I just heard Gov. Quinn say he'll spend every cent the state has to keep his face on the news. I'm paraphrasing.

— Da Speaker (@SpeakerMadigan) September 27, 2013

Heh.

  1. Huge fan of @SpeakerMadigan, always worth the time to see what “he” has to say.

@RebootIllinois, which was is the wind blowing again? Maybe they need to read their own tweets?

Kwame and Ron, keep doing the “people’s business” while Quinn does the “people’s pandering”.

I never understood what was so difficult for Quinn to understand that being part of the solution means working towards a goal to get there, now adding distraction and road blocks to impede a solution…

    …never understtod that.

  2. Principles of good government require that the judiciary vigorously repudiate Quinn’s line item veto stunt.

However, a single trial judge lacks the ability to accomplish that.

Only the Illinois Supreme Court has the ability to nail closed the door Pat Quinn imprudently opened.

  3. @Willy

I think you are missing the Solution Quinn is working for. As far as i can tell The only solution he is looking for is how not to give a concession speech on 11/4/14. Everything else is just mundane i mean who cares about leading.

  5. The fact the PQ’s unconstitutional stunt was so popular among many “low information” voters in Illinois, tells you why we have the government we do.

  6. ==PQ’s unconstitutional stunt was so popular among many “low information” voters in Illinois==

Low information voters must be the targeted audience of the Tribune editorial board. It’s disgusting they encourage Quinn’s nonsense.

  7. Maybe the lawmakers should have thought about the fianical consequence before they initiated pension holidays.

I know why Quinn is doing it, and I understand it “polls well”, and it keeps Quinn “fighting for the people”.

I am not naive to the political, and what you Post has truth.

At some point,… at some point, a Governor needs to “be governor”, and even when Rod was at his worst, and at his most petty, and when Rod would do things that made many people’s stomach’s churn… Rod never tried to re-write the roles of the Co-Equal branches for politcal points. Never.

I hear ya, point taken, but not going all Pollyanna, but asking, when will Pat Quinn, just be Governor? I think I know that answer, but I guess I would hope Quinn could suprise us all(?)

  9. I always thought “Da Speaker” was one the posters here, maybe 47th Ward or Michelle Flaherty. Extremely timely and biting with the tweets.

  10. @Willy

I know you aren’t naive. Have been reading this blog long enough to know that. I meant that kind of tongue in cheek. I agree with you it disgusts me when politicians of any party and any philosophy care more about their next election then actually leading.

I think i am the naive one that thinks you should lead and then let the voters decide based on your leadership whether you should get another term or not. Quinn to me has been one of the worst of the lot. Blago was bad and i disagreed with his leadership but compared to Quinn Blago looks like Patton.

  13. The appeal should lead to a definitive ruling to kill such gubernatorial bullying once and for all. Imagine what a Gov. Rauner would do with the power Quinn claims.

All good. I was more admonishing myself, while I stand by my Post, I should have also looked through the same prism as Pat Quinn does, to give my post some equal time. No worries, much respect.

===Imagine what a Gov. Rauner would do with the power Quinn claims.===

All those cheering Pat Quinn need to realize very quickly, there was a possiblility a future governor might do the Legislature this same extortion for somethng you are against.

It’s all not about today, but all the tomorrows other governors might face the possibility to extort.

Cheer away if you must, but remember, it always comes back around, and you might not like it so much then.

Yes, what goes around comes around. Those that want to diminish pensions (disregarding the plain intent of the IL Constitution) will find themselves being next. We must uphold the “rule of Law” or we will find we are standing on a house of cards.
