Decisions are made by those who show up. That is never truer than on Election Day. And in Illinois, people like you have some important decisions to make.
The polls open tomorrow morning, which means it’s time to step up, make a plan for how you’re going vote, and stick to it.

Others received an e-mail with the subject line “Election Day in Illinois.”
The e-mail was paid for by the Democratic National Committee.
* If you click on the link, you’ll see that they don’t actually have Illinois listed as a state with an election day. So something must be messed up with President Obama’s computer system.
Gee, I wonder where I’ve heard that before?
*** UPDATE *** I just received an e-mail from the DNC with the subject line: “Correction”…

Yesterday, you received an email from us that was intended to be sent to every state where there is an election today, November 5th. Due to an error in the data, this message was sent to Illinois.
There are no elections in Illinois today, and we sincerely regret the error.

FWIW, the DNC sent out an email shortly thereafter reminding folks that Illinois does not actually have elections today and apologizing.
But I hate that this Election Day tech snafu is giving me 2008 Houdini flashbacks. Yech.

I remember as recently as the early ’90s (as late as 1991 or 1993) that there were local elections and referenda in Illinois on the November Election Day in odd-numbered years. I don’t have time to research this, but when were the Election Days of odd-numbered years dropped as legal election days in Illinois (in favor of local elections in February and April of odd-numbered years)?

I received both e-mails. It does state “The Democratic National Committee is solely responsible for the content of this message.”
So, why was the first message signed off as Barack?

I get annoyed when people don’t have respect for the Presidency and call any president by their first name. I have the same feelings about this e-mail.

Demoralized, in general, I agree. However, Obama “signed” the email with his first name, inviting a response in kind. In general, however, the president should be referred to formally no matter what your view of the individual. We are respecting the office, not necessarily the individual currently occupying it.
I am an old fashioned kind of guy. I don’t like it when folks who, having met me for the first time, start calling me by my first name. In my dealings with folks in my “professional” life I call them Mr, Ms, etc until told otherwise.
My wife of 30 years just recently told me I could stop calling her Ms dupage dan and call her by her first name. Made my day ;/)

I thought Obama was to be the technological wiz, when he took office. IPAD and IPOD were his constant companions. I guess, he is better at being a community organizer.

Oh, so that’s why I haven’t been pestered by robocalls, tuned out a gazillon TV ads, recycled lots of useless bulk campaign mail, seen yards bristling with signs…
