Today’s quote

At City Hall, a stink is being raised over medical marijuana regulation.

Some of the aldermen don’t like where the state is forcing the city to allow medical marijuana dispensaries and growing areas.

It’s basically in manufacturing districts and Alderman Carrie Austin is crying foul. “Very resourceful individuals in the City of Chicago might open up a bakery with some brownies! So, that bothers me!”

  1. Some very resourceful people have, for a long time, been peddling heroin to suburbanites and downstaters at open-air markets in Austin.

So that bothers me. Brownies, not so much.

  6. “Your honor, we are not dispensary that bakes cookies and brownies.

We are a bakery that dispenses marijuana.

As you can see, this has all been a big misunderstanding.”

  9. John, c’mon man. Those chemo patients and MS sufferers want to get off harder drugs like Oxy and Vic. They’re not out for kicks.

Illinois med-mar law is a long way off from legalization for recreational use.

  10. John, I don’t want my kids using it, but at some level we need to unclench a bit about it.

  11. John’s post was deleted and if he posts another idiotic comment like that here he’ll be gone permanently.

  13. Alderman…think of the jobs…bakers, packaging, distribution route drivers…

Come on - Brownies = Good

  14. If they’d pass a few of these brownies around during the negotiations, this issue would be settled. Very peacefully.

  15. Sorry I missed whatever idiocy John (whoever he is) spouted. I wish I could say the same about the Hon. C Austin.

  16. Put it in all medical centers, medical sites, and give it to all drug stores and pharmacists to dispense.

It’s really just about medical use, isn’t it?

  21. As to Alderman Austin’s remark, I do hope it was only flippant (although I sadly doubt it), and so can only reply, “Oh BROTHer!!!” But cry foul all ya want–the law is FAIR and Chicago’d best stop moanin’ about it and figure out how to reasonably IMplement it!!
