Topinka, Cross and both their Democratic opponents endorsed by Equality Illinois

Posted in:

* From a press release…

The Equality Illinois Political Action Committee (PAC) today issued its endorsements for candidates running for statewide office in Democratic and Republican primaries in the March 18, 2014, primary election. All the endorsed statewide candidates have strong records supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues, particularly regarding the freedom to marry. […]

Endorsements were based on answers to Equality Illinois PAC’s endorsement questionnaire, personal interviews, community input, and, where applicable, incumbent candidates’ voting records on important LGBT issues.

* The list…

For Governor:
Pat Quinn (Democrat)

For Attorney General:
Lisa Madigan (Democrat)

For Secretary of State:
Jesse White (Democrat)

For Treasurer:
Michael Frerichs (Democrat); Tom Cross (Republican)

For Comptroller:
Sheila Simon (Democrat); Judy Baar Topinka (Republican)

Discuss.

  1. Tom Cross gets rewarded for doing what was right, and getting SB10 across the finish line.

    Good on Equity Illinois for doing what is right and just for Tom Cross in the Long View.

    To Comptroller Topinka, Sheila Simon’s circle of exclusivity in supporters is shrinking fast; Unions, Social Issues, next will just be voters.

    The statewide apparatus that Simon lacks, become less skeletal when groups like Equity Illinois realize they have a friend in Topinka, and Simon’s leaning on her family’s past,and her absentee present is not going to lead to a happy future.

    Good on all three; Cross, Topinka, and Equity Illinois.

    Good politics by all.

  2. When it’s all said and done, Cross will be in the history books for his vote.

  3. Simple endorsement-wish other special interest groups would follow suit: if you support us, we endorse you, if you and your opponent support us, we don’t take sides…

  4. At least some Republicans are trying to move the party forward…now let’s all move on together and talk about the terrible fiscal issues in Illinois!

  5. Both candidates endorsed in a race?

    And the point of endorsement … is … ?

  6. At the risk of being rude, I believe that the Republican primary election is a separate race from the Democratic primary election.
