  1. If Daley vetos the big box ordinance, Jackson will run against him, with the support of the Unions.

Comment by NW Chicago Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 7:54 am

  2. That first story isn’t really news. The Roskam campaign is in shambles, as we saw from the screw ups with the NRA and with the response to stem cells. He has high name recognition but nobody likes him. An elected official in the district polling that poorly.

This one is all over. Duckworth is going to take at least 55%.

Comment by Skeeter Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 7:59 am

  3. Jackson said in a written statement: “I am still contemplating a principled effort to rebuild democracy in Chicago…”

Now that’s a mouthful of empty calories.

  4. Skeeter, keep defending Natarus.

Roskam will win, the good people of the sixth will not support a Rahmchurian canadidate.
It does boggle my mind how the same losers keep getting jobs running campaigns for IL GOP candidates. Most of these clowns should stick to running dog catcher races. How Zahm types keep getting jobs is the million dollar question. I still say Roskam gets 58%. i can actually vote for him.

  5. Rich, you forgot to mention the letter to the editor that Natarus had published today in the sun-times! he got you pretty good!!!

Reilly has $160,000? he’ll need every penny. Burt has $850,000 in cash on hand and is mentioned in this months Today’s Chicago Woman as one of their voted favorite local politicians. So much for Reilly’s attempts to court the woman vote.

  6. Natarusforever:

Who is going to vote for the guy?
    Women will not.
    African-Americans will not.
People who own dogs will not.
People who drive will not (unless they like driving over pot holes).

Given the level [pathetic] of city services in his ward, nobody who spends much time there will vote for him.

He runs the ward that is the most important for Chicago tourism, and the streets look like utter hell. Other than Millenium Park, the parks look like hell. He has approved more ugly building and caused more local congestion than anybody thought possible.

When I look around the 42nd, I get so angry that I want to call my alderman.

And then I remember that the deep pocketed developers called first.

Comment by Skeeter Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 1:54 pm

  7. Wait. I know who will vote for him.

The lawyers who Natarus told to sue Chicago.

    They will vote for him.

Also, the personal injury lawyers who handle slip and fall cases should vote for him. His neglect of city sidewalks and streets keeps them in business.

But are there enough of them in the 42nd to carry the day?

Comment by Skeeter Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 2:13 pm

  8. I’ve got a question: did Cook County taxpayers have to pony-up for the glitzy inaugural ceremony Mdme. President Steele (she of the 4-month wonder term) threw for herself? If so, that really speaks to her intentions to cut down on frivilous spending, doesn’t it?

Comment by Anon. Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 3:26 pm

  9. To avoid voting for professional politicians who rob the poor to cater to the rich, I have two words - Vote Green!!!

Comment by Anonymous Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 6:31 pm

  10. All Krol’s story tells us is that Duckworth is only a front for the National Democratic agenda with no experience. Duckworth has to turn to her patrons to find out what to say. Have you heard her speak…she will get smoked in a debate, if she attends one.

    Comment by Cubs-I give up! Wednesday, Aug 2, 06 @ 7:23 pm

  11. Cubs,

Major Duckworth freely admits that she is a Democrat and intends to cooperate with the Democrats to some extent if elected. Rahm was in charge of recruiting candidates nationally for the DCCC this year, so I suppose the two of them have have spoken.

In contrast, Roskam is a personal injury lawyer [you know - an ambulance chaser. Slip and fall? Call Roskam!] but covers it up and and claims that he is in favor of tort reform.

Roskam has been bought and sold by the NRA but covers that up. He makes a fine lap NRA lap dog. I hear they’ve taught him “sit” and “down” and hope to teach him to shake paws. He’s a smart little boy. They can teach him!

Roskam covers up his position on stem cells.

Roskam covers up his radical and extreme views on abortion.

Roskam covers up his ties to Tom Delay.

Didn’t Bruce Springsteen write a song about this guy? He spends half his life just a covering up.
