“Asked if he was describing Rauner, Madigan shot back a one-word response before walking away: ‘Who?” ===

Don’t worry Rauner Crew, “You’ll be fine.”

The McCutcheon decision will be interesting to see reactions as much as the impact.

  2. I’m waiting to see whether SB 2682 will be called for a vote. It mandates the teaching of labor history in public schools. With the widespread effort to weaken unions in different states, I believe that labor history is very important–including current events.

  3. If I may, I’d like to use this spot to recommend to my friends here an incredible book I read over the weekend:

“Johnny Cash: The Life,” by Robert Hilburn, the music writer for the LA Times.

Couldn’t put it down. Hardly saw any of the Elite Eight games. One of the best books I’ve read in many a year, so honest, so true.

History of the country, history of rock and roll, history of an amazingly talented sinner always seeking redemption.

Forty years ago, I walked into my gamla farmor’s house for the first time and this ancient Icelandic mystic had “At Folsom Prison” on the turntable. She didn’t understand a word of English, but Johnny resonated with her in a powerful way.

My Greatest Generation folks and theirs loved Johnny. So do I and the people of my time.

My high school hipster has the poster of Johnny flipping the bird at San Quentin on her bedroom wall. First time I saw that, I knew I’d done something right.

Do yourself a favor, read the book.
