* I just did a quick read-through of the comments on the Rauner vs. Quinn at the IEA event post. You guys did a tremendous job. I’ll bet you’re all still kinda keyed up, so here’s something to chill everybody out before the weekend.

I’ve struggled, desperately, over the months, not to acknowledge Oscar, or say say anything about him. Very hard for me.
Like Vito, I have selfish reasons.
When I was a kid (the youngest kid), my old man, mom and four siblings only took two vacations together.
We went up by Devil’s Lake and camped on Skillet Creek (a crummy dump campground; I went back there later in life, sheesh).
My old man didn’t learn how to drive until he was about 30, and he was lousy at it, navigating that steering-wheel clutch Big Buick wagon (awesome car) with seven people and camping gear on backroads all the way up to Baraboo.
The old man couldn’t handle four-lanes. Took 4.Ev.Er.
My older brothers folded me up in the trunk jump seat of the Buick, and I sucked the exhaust pipe all the way. That explains a lot.
We did it two years in a row. Both years, we left our dogs, Prince I, and Prince II, in the care of our neighbors.
You notice I say “dogs.” Two vacations in a row, two dead dogs on the side of the road coming back from vacation. They ate the 18-wheelers on old 23 going south, because we left them in the care of a very nice man, who was struggling through his PTSD from Vietnam with a lot of booze and pills.
Still love that, dude. He’s old now. But my dogs are dead.
Never had a dog since. I’ll try to keep my kids alive, and when I get older, maybe get a dog.
