  2. The electronic tagging of sex offenders would be ok if we had a good definition of sex offenders. Currently, we might label a person who had consentual sex with a younger partner say a 18 year old who had consentual sex with a 15 year old. I think if we can define the real dangerous sex offenders from others it would be ok. Its a waste of time and money go take those drastic measures for many of the people we label sex offenders.

  3. Crain’s has a better report on the Vrdolyak-Levine land deal, including details of the ties to the ubiquitous Burt Natarus:

A Smithfield spokesman says the firm paid a fair price and adds that Mr. Levine didn’t benefit from the deal. Campaign finance records show Smithfield contributed $5,000 in November 2001 to Jim Ryan’s gubernatorial campaign, to which Mr. Levine served as finance chief. Smithfield also gave $7,500 to Alderman Burton Natarus (42nd) and the 42nd Ward Democratic organization between January 2002 and August 2004. Mr. Natarus supported city approval of the Smithfield project.

  4. The new predatory lending law does have a nanny state quality.

Are African Americans more likely to be snookered by predatory lenders than other groups? Somehow, I doubt it.

Perhaps an another attempt by Blago to show how much he cares about African Americans? Treating them like idiots might not be the best way, though.

  5. · Roskam focuses on tax cuts

Yes, what we really need in order to pay off all that debt to Red China that Roskam’s fellow conservatives are racking up is more tax cuts for filthy rich Republican elitists.

My little ones sure will be enjoying all that relief while carrying the burden of paying off the Republicans’ debt to Communists.

There’s a world of difference between being a partisan-based “tax fighter” (whatever that is) and a rational, fiscally responsible legislator.

Our taxes are our investments in our nation and our communities. If we don’t invest in ourselves to make America a better place for our children, who will?

  6. Hey YDD, thanks for the link. I also see that former Alderman Bill Singer’s name is mentioned.
