Under the leadership of Daniels and Snyder, Indiana and Michigan became the 23rd and 24th states in the US to pass right-to-work laws.
However, Rauner added that he did not support a similar effort in Illinois. Instead, he believes right-to-work zones should allow local communities to make these decisions.
Rauner would also consider using a superstar team of business leaders to chart a better course for the state.
The guy who recently declared that he would have vetoed Illinois’ new gay-marriage law has been endorsed by — surprise — a national gay-rights group.
It’s interesting timing, as the new law goes into effect over over the weekend. But GOProud, which describes itself as “a national organization of gay and straight Americans who seek to promote freedom by supporting free markets, limited government and a respect for individual rights,” announced in a press release that Bruce Rauner is its candidate for governor of Illinois. He said he would veto the marriage bill,” said Bernard Cherkov, president of Equality Illinois, the state’s largest gay-rights group, which endorsed Gov. Pat Quinn in the Democratic primary but has backed some Republicans in the past and has not made a general-election pick for this year yet. “He would have put it to a referendum, and has declined every opportunity to articulate an inclusive and positive vision for LGBT Illinoisans.” […]
Said Mr. Rauner’s spokesman in a statement, “Bruce’s message of lower taxes, term limits and better schools is one that resonates with everyone across the state.”

Geez. That is a pathetic stand to take.
Even Michigan went full statewide.
If Rauner thinks Illinois isn’t ready politically for a right-to-work political stand, then it would be better if he just said that instead.

National group endorsements are swell.
But, Raunerites fail to understand that all politics is local, and if Equity Illinois looks at who either Rauner is, and it appears they have, the locals seem to have more sway, then some fly-by-night national blanket crew, looking to assist Raunerites and the Raunerite narrative, even if facts seem to refute how Rauner feels otherwise.
Wonder which 6 corrupt GOP state Senators, and 15 corrupt state Representatives would like to remind voters how “Bruce Rauner” will say anything to any group, and then hope no one is paying attention.
“Listen what I say today, not what I said disparagingly about you/the policy/others yesterday.”
Pathetic. Good on Equity Illinois, and I hope they continue to support the 4 GOP GA members in the long term future too. They talked the talk, and they walked the walk.

He currently has a committee put together to investigate which leaders will be part of the group that will pick those “superstar leaders”. We will find out the committee members at the right time.

An interesting turn of events…even a faction of the LGBT community recognizes the failings of Governor Pat Quinn, whose record of championing LGBT issues is substnatial. GOProud is simply acknowledging the need for fical restraint in handling State budget matters and the group knows Rauner is the stronger, more optimal candidate.

Pat Quinn signed Civil Unions.
Pat Quinn signed SSM.
Bruce Rauner would have vetoed SSM, according to Bruce Rauner.
Being a Raunerbot is fun, not factually accurate or politically astute, but it’s fun, I guess.

What’s real interesting about this is that GOProud is falling apart. It’s co-founder quit this spring after the organization got accepted back to CPAC, but only because it surrendered trying to get a table at the event or sponsorship. It was also predicated on GOProud not talking about humanity and acceptance for the LGBT community and only emphasizing topics like anti-abortion policies or gun rights. In other words, they got to walk around like everyone else, but the bigots kept them from the halls of power or recognition. This is as meaningful an endorsement as if you tout the modern day CORE as evidence of you having a black friend.

Republican legislatures? Legislative and Executive cooperation?
When you call the Dems corrupted by Union Bosses and 1/3 of the GOP corrupt too, how much help you think Rauner will get with this or even this…

Perhaps he will recruit some of those business leaders who ran his Florida nursing homes? I’m sure they will have some creative ideas on social services.

I wonder if endorsements may be influenced by donations? If I had to guess I think that would be the likeliest explanation for a number of Rauner’s endorsements. I think some are bought and paid for. Or am I just being too cynical?

If you’re going to go way out on a limb and “consider” such a revolutionary move, instead of “superstars,” shouldn’t you bring in the “Superfriends? (maybe not the twins and the dog).

I think the support of right to work in any capacity is insulting. We have a time now when wages are stagnant and income is going to the most wealthy. There is no doubt that right to work states have lower incomes than states with union participation, overall. Also, CEO pay has increased massively since 1983, according to this article, with CEO’s earning 46 times more than average workers in 1983, and 331 times more than average workers today.

We have a moment in America when we need to do all we can to reverse our huge income inequality and race to the bottom, which is aggravated by the wealthy anti-tax, anti-union interests. Illinoisans can be brave and stand up for labor rights, or we can capitulate to the likes of multimillionaires and billionaires who are pushing right to work anywhere they can. I have faith that we will stand against Rauner’s proposal.

We need right to invest laws!! no investment firms are needed because people will be allowed to directly submit their electronic buy/seel orders directly. We will of course have our right to invest laws substantially hold down the fees and charges that can be made off of investments. After all those corrupt investment firms shouldnt be allowed to bargain and negotiate over fees for services if I dont want to pay them… Support Right to invest zones today!

Platitudes are great. “Superstars”. Does Bruce Rauner have a binder of “Superstars”, ala Mitt Romney?
If this is the “Plan”, ok, that is the “Plan”, but don’t think you are dazzling anyone with “Genius, Unleashed!” with Dopey committees of unknown people, which may include “insiders” that one Rauner despises, and the other Rauner covets as business associates.

Rauner is going to assemble his “business leaders” to run the state only to find that state union workers will make more than his appointees, that strict procurement rules big down sensible purchasing practices, veterans and minority hiring rules must be followed, the state is broke, and entrenched lobbyists will fight everything he stands for. Those business leaders will tell him to take a hike.

“Superstar team”…yeah, what, like that superstar team of Billionaires like himself which Rauner helped to put together at GTCR that is getting sued SO often in SO many States over its’ decrepit Nursing Home abuses against the Elderly folk, it’s hard for his lawyers to keep runnin’ from State to State, Courthouse to Courthouse, just trying to keep UP–THAT kind of “superstar team”??!! If so, Illinois should want NO part of THAT set-up…!

Bush three? The return of Bush, the Illinois version. No thanks. I do not hate the Bushes. I do not even dislike them. However, I don’t think that GW or Bush 43’s policies were good for the country.
We don’t need more business men thinking that they can run the State just because they ran a business. It did not work for the country from 2001 to 2009.
