On the bus

Posted in:

[Bumped up because the post was getting lonely underneath that mountain of budget stuff.]

Unlike our last installment, this only looks like satire.

Rutherford high-fived all the candidates, then, realizing he failed to introduce Tazewell County State’s Attorney Stu Umholtz, the candidate for attorney general, rushed back to the podium and startled Umholtz by saying, “On your feet. Stu Umholtz.”

Umholtz laughed and said Rutherford also forgot to introduce him at the previous stop in Macomb. Turning serious, he said DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, should have been elected attorney general in 2002, rather than Democrat Lisa Madigan.

Umholtz said of himself and Birkett, “We don’t just talk about public corruption … we deal with it. Under (Lisa) Madigan, public corruption has not only continued, it has flourished.”

  1. Is Umholtz being paid to run, and if so by which party? To say he’s run an uninspiring campaign would be a lie because where I’m at, he’s run no campaign. I think the plant that ran against Lip II had a more vigorous campaign.

  4. Can you imagine the Democrat campaigner’s riding together through the State on a bus? There’d probably be too many bodies thrown under the wheels for it to move.

  6. Wait until Chris and Carole get a load of CasinoQueen’s budget plan. They’ll make Judy run behind the bus.

  7. Joe Birkett would be a much more likable candidate to everyone if the bitterness was tossed out the window. he lost the AG race and it’s over. let it go. glen poshard moved on. I think Joe is a great candidate and i support him 100%, but we don’t need to be reminded that he should have been AG. Life is not fair, it’s that simple. Who is Umholtz anyway?

  11. Come on, Anon 9:07 - The worst ticket ever? The Blagojevich campaign should be sued for false advertising. His campaign might as well not have Pat Quinn there. They should have a big picture of Milarod, Lon, and Bradley out front and then just line up all the contract recipients for the past three years. There are only two ways the gov gets support, buying it from people or by intimidating the people he expects to run the state. Nice guy!
