Ah, the ole war on women thing. There is a problem, though. From a March, 2014 report by Preqin…
The average proportion of senior positions held by women in North America- and Europe-based private equity firms is 11.0% and 9.7% respectively. North America saw a rise from 2013 when women held 10.3% of senior roles
So, Rauner’s firm employs women in senior level capacities at a higher than average rate.

“Unfortunately, females have long been underrepresented in private equity and Bruce certainly would have liked to see GTCR hire more females, but GTCR does exceed national averages for the industry.”

Equality Illinois and other LGBT organizations announced Aug. 4 that during Market Days they would be continuing their effort to call attention to what they call GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner’s anti-gay activities and social conservative agenda.
Among the efforts planned for the two-day festival, which takes place on Halsted Street Aug. 9-10, are flyers, voter registration booths and a new social media campaign, according to a statement.
Equality organizations and activists say that Rauner, who has claimed not to be running on a socially conservative agenda, has contributed to anti-gay candidates, as his wife, Diana. The Market Days flyers, made up to look like voided marriage certificates, point to $95,400 in contributions the Rauners gave to anti-LGBT candidates. Among those candidates the organizations named are John D. Anthony, Sheri Jesiel, Liz Doody Gorman, Jim Durkin, Christine Radogno, Joe Sosnowski, Mark Batinick, Keith Wheeler, Heidi Holan, Neil Anderson and Margo McDermed.
Street teams will also be calling attention to Rauner’s running mate Evelyn Sanguenitti and his association with the DeVos family, who have been major funders of anti-marriage equality activities and donated $13,000 to his campaign, the statement said.

Everyone who truly thinks that Bruce Rauner will actually void gay marriage licenses, please raise you hand.
But, hey, it’s politics and Rauner won’t come out and actually say he’d protect gay marriage rights, so he probably deserves the hit.

If the pandering to the conservatives means staying silent, you gotta eat the hit.
Rauner claiming he has no social agenda doesn’t mean others don’t have a social agenda to use against you.

Rauner said he would have vetoed the same sex marriage bill so it’s definitely fair game.
BTW the LGBT groups are forgetting about the hundreds of thousands of dollars Rauner gave to high profile gay rights opponent Jack Roeser in recent years.

He said he’d veto the marriage equality bill — and then said he was open to a referendum repealing it. Those are public statements he has made.

I have a bad feeling about turnout in the gay community this year. Now that gay marriage is the law, what exactly is driving them to the polls?
They’re smart enough to know Governors can veto bills, but they can’t veto laws. Plus, the federal courts have overturned gay marriage bans across the country. There is nothing Rauner can do to turn back the clock on marriage equality.
So why should LGBTQ community feel energized to come out and vote in a midterm when nothing really is at stake?

Smart response for/by Sanguinetti.
Not much else to say that sounds anything but bad.
Time will catch up to Bruce on the marriage issue in any case. It’s now or later.
But Rauner could gain by pivoting on marriage equality now. The likely GOP voters will never go for Quinn, and have enough other reasons to get to the polls. Some in the middle could move his way. It partly depends on if he’s still that dependent on certain funders who would be outraged with him, if he clearly switched his position.

Yep, it’s politics as usual. And Team Quinn has to relentlessly pump up the histrionics aimed at the impassioned left wing base. “Bruce Rauner kills puppies!” Oh, wait, that’s been done.
Rauner is no more a threat to gay marriage as Pat Quinn is. It ain’t gonna change and he isn’t going to change it.
But if we can scream loudly enough, some of the low-information voters just might fall for the distraction.
Can someone please name one thing the Quinn campaigns has placed any focus on in the past several months that has anything whatsoever to do with how he’s going to fix the disaster he helped create in the state’s finances?

Yep! August is definitely here - these special interest groups’ tactics smack of desperation and distraction. I think it very clear that Bruce Rauner is a solid individual who does not hold hatred in his heart for women, the GLBT community, lower-income folks, women who opt to exercise their right to aborition, etc. His opinions may differ from yours, but he is not the monster that some would like to depict him as. #staythecoursebruce #hatersaredesperateforthestatusquo

So let me get this straight, many business style Republicans who never really cared that much about gay marriage in the first place, but attacked it because their consultants told them it was helpful to stir up homophobes in the base, are now crying uncle because the issue has finally flipped and the Dems are using their past record of gay-baiting against them?

The Freedom PAC hit backfires. Spectacularly.
The gay marriage hit is a more than fair one. LGBT advocates will push him to speak up, just as social conservatives will push him to keep his mouth sewed shut. The hashtag is ridiculous, but the hit is just good old fashioned advocacy.

I hear your frustration, but it’s not that bad, if you are open to listen for it. Quinn’s latest TV ads mention a few of them.
1. Pension Reform (passed, and very significant fiscally, but hung up in court.)
2. A “doomsday” Budget Proposal that makes the spending cuts necessary, as the tax increase sunsets, and it adds up. (Better than no plan offered that meets those straightforward standards.)
3. Closing state institutions, and cutting $5 Billion in discretionary annual spending. (It’s real.)
4. Maintaining current tax rates, rather than having them sunset. (Rauner would do the same, at least for his first year.)
5. Worker’s Comp reforms. (5% down for companies, but maybe not enough to tout.)
6. Medicaid fraud reforms. (bi-partisan effort that has had some impact.)
You might not like these things for various reasons, and think they are clearly insufficient, but they do exist, and have been mentioned various times in the past year.
They do of course “have anything to do” with our fiscal disaster — which will take many years of substantial efforts to clean up.

But OneMan, the key point I’d argue is that Clinton now -says- DOMA was a mistake and he now opposes it. Anytime Rauner wants to join the right side of history and publicly say that he supports gay marriage, at least in Illinois, he’s welcome.

No.
14% of senior positions at GTCR are held by women. Which is above the national average. Mid-level positions are not included in that stat.

Rauner has had opportunities to get past gay marriage as an issue since the primary. Why he hasn’t done so, unequivocally, is beyond me. The primary is long over, and the ever-shrinking number of those who have a problem with it have no place else to go.

Given that Bruce is all about running Illinois like his businesses, I would say that the fact his businesses don’t include many women or minorities is pretty disturbing. Hardly a miss, Rich, at least if you care about equality. And I think women and minorities are pretty tired of the argument that just because the status quo is to exclude us that makes it acceptable ‘because everyone is doing it.’
