Question of the day

Posted in:

* Sun-Times

Pat Quinn and Bruce Rauner were a few of the many politicians who made it out Sunday to watch Jackie Robinson West take on South Korea for the Little League World Series Championship.

And as it turns out, when the music got going, so did they.

* Quinn did the Wobble

* Rauner did the Dougie

* The Question: Which was more entertaining, Quinn’s Wobble or Rauner’s Dougie? Take the poll and then explain your answer in comments, please.

  1. PQ is the clear winner, he dances from the heart.

Comment by Anonymous Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 11:46 am

  2. Rauner’s forced enthusiasm was really awkward, so of course I found that more entertaining.

  3. Ditto what 47th said.

Comment by Norseman Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 11:54 am

  4. Rauner definitely looked like he was having more fun and he get’s an “A” for effort.

Comment by Anon Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 11:58 am

  5. Rauner required more knee bend, therefore the winner.

  6. What do you get for the man who has everything? DANCE LESSONS!!!

    Comment by William j Kelly Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 11:59 am

  7. Congrats to Bruce Rauner for burnishing his unmarred record of being 100% Phony.

  8. Rauner was a trooper, way more out of his element…..he gets bonus points for that, therefore he wins.

    Hilarious on both accounts.

  9. I’m voting for the kid with the moves!

Comment by Empty Suit Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:01 pm

  10. Oh, Brucie, you look a bit like your tighty whities are several sizes too small. It looks that painful.

PQ was smart to hold the sign - avoiding the awkward chicken dance thing Brucie was doing. PQ says, “My hips are my money makers, baby!”

  11. They both are good at dancing around the issues. Da Da DA Da da da da da da do the hustle……..

Comment by nobody Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:02 pm

  12. Neither. They both look completely ridiculous dancing. But it’s still great to see that they both noticeably supported and cheered on and were present for the celebration of this fantastic team effort and for the great group of coaches and players on JRW. Their last two games in the LLWS in particular were just awesome to watch. I fell in love with those little guys. They made Illinois proud.

  13. Partial to the Dougie, because of who the Bulls picked up in the draft. Rauner is cross-marketing.

Somewhat related, watching the JRW team was awesome. I hope those kids recognize what they accomplished years from now, and wish them all the best.

They seem like great kids too. Go to work, get the job done, and have fun doing it. They were also very well coached, as you could tell from their fundamentals. The double play to end the Vegas game was a thing of beauty.

A big congratulations to them, and thank you for bringing Chicago to a World Series.

  14. Rauner could get through one dance at a wedding. PQ not so sure.

Comment by Bogey Golfer Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:06 pm

  15. Based on their lack of dancing skills I don’t think either candidate is qualified to be Governor.

Comment by Stones Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:14 pm

  16. I didn’t vote. After watching them both dance it is clear that they both should stick to being wallflowers at dances.

  17. “Teach me how to Dougie, kid, and I’ll make it worth your while”

Comment by Anonymoiis Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:19 pm

  18. Quinn surprisingly has a bit more rhythm than I would have thought.

Comment by Just Observing Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:23 pm

  19. The Dougie seems to take more coordination (and the kid in the video was great!). Rauner seems to be a quick leaner; he did pretty well once he figured it all out.

Comment by Anonymous Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:31 pm

  20. Those were hard to watch. Not sure either was entertaining unless you want someone to look bad. So I guess on that end Rauner was.
    Where were their advance teams?

Comment by Been There Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:43 pm

  21. Rauner should should have spent less time on voter suppression and more time on dougie suppression.

    Comment by William j Kelly Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:47 pm

  22. Please post that crazy video of chad grim dancing the Watusi!

    Comment by William j Kelly Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 12:53 pm

  23. Swervy hips move by Quinn makes him the better dancer. Rauner’s oh so white dancing makes his attempt more entertaining.

    IMHO, anyway.

Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 1:02 pm

  24. Because of “Degree of Difficulty” like in Olympic Diving, I chose Rauner. The Dougie is just way more challenging that the Wobble. I give both guys credit for seizing the moment though.

  25. Pat looks like Quinocchio dancing. Rauner looks like the Scarecrow trying to dance. Middle aged white men should leave things like this to the pros.

  26. Quinn wobbles like a Weeble, but that’s what happens when you have too many of the Cupcake Girl’s cupcakes.

I’m afraid James Brown had more soul in his nose hair clippings than Bruce Rauner has in his whole body. I’m not sure if such antics prove he’s a good sport or that he will do anything to become governor.

Comment by Streator Curmudgeon Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 1:44 pm

  27. Bruce Rauner is now officially the whitest guy in the history of white guys. He made Rahm’s chair dance at Taste of Chicago look downright soulful.

  29. Ok, to the Question,

    “Entertaining”

Rauner’s attempt is painfully entertaining. It’s like you are hoping he is having more fun than painful, physically.

Quinn’s attempt is silly-entertaining. Quinn kinda governs like he dances; all over the place.

Voted Quinn, because the power of the incumbency has to be good at some point, why not spontaneous dancing(?)

Better than it could do, so both well done.

  30. Better than I could do…

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 3:29 pm

  31. I think they were both awesome for once!

Comment by nothing to see here Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 4:15 pm

  32. Neither, they may have other skills, but dancing is not one of them. I can not un-see those videos. Better judgement in the future Miller!

Comment by Hacks Monday, Aug 25, 14 @ 8:57 pm

  33. Now this is almost just too hilarious to even comment on! Voted Wobble because at least he never stopped boogying while Dougie looked stiff, then basically stopped, and then tried to do a pretty anemic (yet quite amusing imitation) of the REAL Dancer! But I’m still chuckling out loud–by far the best hilarity I’ve enjoyed this entire (and arduously LONG) Day!! Thanks for putting them up!
