Drops in the bucket hyped as important floods

* My in-box has been bombarded the past two days by Sen. Dick Durbin’s DC office announcing tiny little grants as if they were major developments…

DURBIN ANNOUNCES A MORE THAN $15.2 MILLION INVESTMENT IN ILLINOIS HEALTH CARE PROGRAMS

DURBIN ANNOUNCES A $1.6 MILLION INVESTMENT TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING SERVICES IN ILLINOIS

DURBIN ANNOUNCES OVER $1.8 MILLION INVESTMENT IN ILLINOIS SCHOOLS

  4. This is all your fault, Mr. Miller. He has to put out a lot of items to bury your caption contest with the picture of the car with Durbin and Rauner bumper stickers.

  7. It seems to me that many of these grants are held at the federal and state level until the political timing is right. Or am I just too jaded?

  8. The Dick’s typical M.O. “look what I’m doing for YOU”.

  9. These funds will likely be released in the form of grants. Grants like these can help a lot of people. The problem with them is when the grant funds end, there is no financial way to sustain the services. It is a temporary fix to a long term problem.

  10. How in heaven’s name are you not sending these out immediately as “Urgent Alerts”? This is the google game where you send things out with a name and a topic and the lazy researchers grab it fast.
