  11. Interesting, Rich, and here’s your answer on who’s behind Akismet and why: “The founder of Automattic, Matt Mullenweg, created Akismet so that his mother could blog in safety. He was the sole developer until recently. The name was suggested by Matt’s sister Charleen.” It’s licensed as free software under the GNU General Public License.
