Tonight’s quotable

Posted in:

* From ABC 7’s report on today’s NRI hearing

(A) harsh audit found the program was hastily developed, mismanaged and wasted millions of taxpayer dollars. Lavin admitted that mistakes were made, but the program helped thousands of people.

Quinn’s current opponent Bruce Rauner uses the word “corruption” when talking about the NRI probe.

“Is this corruption? No, I don’t think so, it is gross mismanagement and incompetence,” [Rep. Ron] Sandack said.

He’s probably right, but I’m not sure the Rauner campaign is gonna love him for that one.

@FakeRonSandack - when you play the patsy for Tom Hagen, and you are made to play the fool, at some point enough is enough #DopeyOwl

  2. Evidently Sandack reads polls.

  3. If the program helped thousands of people, where are they at? Will these people be testifying on Quinn’s behalf?

Does Lavin mean the NRI paid thousands of part-time people?

    It’s over man.

  5. ===It’s over man.===

That was the saddest sentence I’ve read today.

    (Softly) It’s over man.

All he has to read is the Capitol Fax.

  8. Admittedly, I did not watch all of the testimony today. But from what I did see, Representative Sandack, came off as a little heavy handed…

  11. 60 days to prep and it seems like the dems used that time far more effectively than the GOP

  12. That line is why Ron is eventually going to win statewide.

He did the thing for his party and held the hearings, but when they didn’t come up with anything, he acknowledged it.

Many in his positions would be saying “But, but, but let’s wait for the feds.”

Ron acknowledged what others saw. That took some courage.

  13. Rauner over played this, badly. He could have used the gross mismanagement and millions wasted angle effectively. But he wanted something more visceral and went out on a limb with corruption…. And the limb broke. Oddly Rauner has turned the great mismanagement potentially major hit/whack at Quinn’s leadership into a minor issue by calling it corruption. What a way to help bury it

  14. There goes a campaign theme, months in the making, down the tubes.

  15. Sandack can’t seem to hang onto an office for more than a couple of years and only won his primary over an utterly unqualified tea party candidate by 150 votes after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars. Win statewide? Not gonna happen.

  16. “gross mismanagement and incompetence”
    An apt tag-line for Democrats.
