  3. There is no better way to start your day, or move through your day, or finish your day, than with a tune by ol’ Hoss. Just two days ago, I was enjoying his “I’ve Always Been Crazy” album. He was a giant.

  5. Big fan. He was almost part of the day the music died. Like most musicians, his life was good and bad but he ended on a good note due to family and friends.

  9. Great beat, love the words we will give it a 95. Now we await the blog discussion on how the AP had to go all the way to Denver to find a business prof to comment on when Mitt is accountable for his bizwiz screw-ups…..thought Northwestern and U of C had biz programs.

  11. My favorite Waylon song is his cover of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright”. It was later borrowed by Johnny Cash and became “Understand Your Man”.

  12. He’s got a lethal voice…and he’s not afraid to use it. But he does let it sneak up on you.

  13. Love this song. I saw him play two nights in a row at ChicagoFest, circa 1981. I think it was free.

  14. I really like this guy and yes he is talented BUT HE WILL NEVER GET ELECTED COMPTROLLER!

  15. Waylon resurrected Willie’s career. Willie was without a record deal when Waylon used his clout at Columbia to get him signed.

    When Columbia refused to release “Redheadec Stranger” without Nashvilling it up with strings and background vocals, Waylon literally jumped up on a desk during a meeting and demanded that it be released as Wilie produced it.

  20. ===Hey how about something else for a change===

    I went really, really deep into the weeds last night and gave up after an hour, went to bed, got up and decided it was gonna be a Waylon song.

    A soul tune isn’t a bad idea, however.

  21. To Rich and all the readers who like this kind of music, Waylon has a son, Shooter Jennings who also has CD’s out. There is also a band call Jason Boland and the Strangglers and if you like something a little more middle of the road, give a listen to Poco. They have been around since the late sixties. If you’re looking for soul try Aretha, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Taylor or Tyrone Davis. Now that’s some old soul.
