Hey, Rich. Have you seen a website called empowermebruce.com?
A friend got a call telling her she could win $100 for the educational institution of her choice by visiting the site and answering six questions. The questions turn out to be about a person’s workplace style — collaborative, detail-oriented, etc.
The call and site briefly mention Rainer but don’t do a hard sell. Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. I can’t figure out what it’s supposed to accomplish.

* I called the company and the phone was answered by Tom Janz, the firm’s chief scientist.
Dr. Janz said the study was paid for by “a friend of the candidate” who thought this might be helpful. But they got such a late start that they weren’t able to roll it out until this afternoon.
Janz said the study is similar to a “Wilson” type of self-completed questionnaire.
* But what was the point? Janz said the original goal was to goal understand individual voter personality types and then match candidate messages to them based on their types.
So, to simplify it, if a person was a bold, salesman kind of person, the message would be short bullet points for why Rauner was the best candidate. If it was a more academic respondent, he or she would be sent detailed reasons. Etc.
It’s about “tooling the process of the message,” Janz said. But, unfortunately, the project came to him too late to matter much.

weird. But I have been wondering all day what kind of gadgets and scams the Rauner people got suckered into spending all of those millions on.
Really, I watch a lot of TV. I make a point of watching every political commercial because I like them. But I can’t understand where all the Rauner money went - I did not see $60 M worth of advertising. I even said I was “undecided” when I was phone polled over the summer. I expected tons of mail from whoever it was that polled me - nope.
Where did that money go?

Have your staff threaten the editor while you curse out publisher until newspaper suspends the reporter that isn’t giving you fawning coverage.

Sounded like a bribe to the uniformed, uneducated. I called the # back and it went to Rauner’s office. A woman answered and when I complained she said they didn’t know who it was and they had been hacked. I call BS.

Check the privacy statement for things like this … all of the info they gathered about you could be sold to dossier assemblers like Acxiom, and then resold over and over again. That goes for any “assessments” or “questionnaires” that you fill out on the internet, or by any other means …

And then asks, “Thoughts?”
….First thought? Rauner’s friends clearly have more money than they know what to do with.
And some people say elections don’t matter. Whoever this was thought the election mattered enough to pay good coin for this bizarre nonsense in the hope it would help Rauner buy the election.
