  1. Extremely interesting. The most detailed speech I’ve heard Rauner give. While he doesn’t lay out solutions, he clearly identifies a number of problems (at least things he believes are problems) and you can then guess what the solution will be. I do enjoy his use of charts and numbers.

  2. I don’t understand why they didn’t video record it. It’s not like there’s a video system in every classroom at Gleacher.

It would have also been nice if they told the students before yesterday.

  3. Finally starting to see the value of having someone who has not been in Illinois Government for a long time. He is doing a great job pointing out absurdities that need to be fixed.

  4. And not offering specific solutions as usual. Edgar warned everyone he doesn’t have experience in government. There is a huge difference between running a state and a corporation. Hopefully he will lay out more details soon. I wish him well and am staying optimistic.

  5. Thanks for this audio.
Very interesting stuff. Everyone should take a half hour and listen. Whatever your thoughts of our new governor are, it’s a good investment of time to listen. Agree very little on specifics but loaded with a lot of points that you can maybe infer from this speech what’s coming next….

  7. Quit demonizing public employees for once already. Anybody can put slides together and show a crisis. Individuals should not have to pay a higher tax rate to support your agenda. What about companies who threaten to leave but then get a tax deal from the legislature? Let’s face it social security is broke and the population across the nation is aging which people know, but also mention it. You can spend millions of dollars to push your agenda but workers can’t have a voice either? It’s going to take all three branches of the state to tango, not just the governor’s office.
