When Obama raises money for himself these days, the money no longer is going into his political action committee fund, but his Senate re-election warchest.The distinction: Money that goes into the PAC is doled out to other candidates around the country. Money that goes into the Senate fund can be used for an ‘08 White House bid, McCaskill said.

Franks will see the FOIA request probably about February. CMS will NEVER give that up prior to the election.

Executive Order No. 1 was and still is Blago’s patronage system! Who are they kidding?? Every state agency personal employee ought to be scared to death right now, because this administration will point the finger right at them. That’s why Shiff Hardin has been sniffing around for months…finding areas to place blame to divert attention from the powers that be. We’re not getting the bang for our buck, ladies and gentlemen…we’re just getting banged!

Personnel records are confidential and exempt from FOIA. Franks, an attorney, knows this. He’s just trying to get some free pub and it seems to have worked if you consider Capfaxblog publicity. He could have gotten the other info he “demanded” on Google.
If he is so outraged why didn’t he run for governor? He had paragons of virtue Dick Mell and Ed Burke lined up as supporters. Maybe he could get Joe Novak and Ed Vordolyak on board. It would be great to see the team back together again.

Bill, nice try, but Franks is not talking about personnel records. As an attorney, he knows the information he is requesting is subject to FOIA, should be disclosed, and was in fact previously disclosed up to about mid point in the Blago administration. What the Blagos have never cared about is that the public pays for all of the stuff like employees, contractors, etc. Because of that, and I know it is hard for your team to grasp, but there is accountability. The taxpayers get to know most everything…until the Blago tenure, that is. The “keep ‘em in the dark” mentality is not going to work in the end.

I think the mayoral discussions started without any action by Mike Quigley. I was at several public meetings last winter where, afterward, attendees commented to themselves (and sometimes to Mike) that he should run for mayor. At the time he was asking for signatures for his County petitions so he certainly would not have encouraged people to think of him, instead, in a City race.

The information he is requesting is not FOIA Exempt. The point is, the Gov’s office will not allow CMS to release any FOIA request until after the election….Do they have something to hide????

If the info is not FOIA exempt as has been claimed then I am sure that CMS is working to research the info as we speak. Unfortunately, it probably is not readily available and will take some time to compile. February is a good guess. And don’t forget, Franks has to pay for the copies.

Blagojevich’s debate comments are laughable. He accuses Topinka of being “Ryan’s treasurer”. Just how stupid does he think voters are? It seems not enough for him to claim he fixed the budget, yet blames any shortfalls on Ryan. Now he wants us to believe that the State Treasurer has special powers? He better ask his Lt. Governor, (as a former Treasurer), just how much power that office has.
After one term in office, will Blagojevich take responsibility over what he has done to our budget? Nope. It is still all Ryan’s fault. What a nut!

I swear you must have brown eyes, you are so full of crap.
As several posters have noted, these records are not personnel records, they are budgetary records relating to the Governor’s attempt to control State personnel costs and hence clearly FOIAble. (And just the other day, Sheila Nix-on or Rebecca Rausch said the freeze had saved “billions!”)
As for your “paragon of virtue” comment, that’s a real hoot. Blago would still be over at 26th & Cal hustling DUI work had it not been for Mell, Eddie V, and his tax lawyer Eddie B.
You and Blago are two peas in a pod. Your ignorance is exceeded only by your arrogance.

It is true the old 29 leaders did help Rod get elected to office, however when it became clear to them that the governor was an honest man, would always try to do the right thing, and would not get jobs for their minions, give special treatment to relatives involved in garbage dumps, etc.they were enraged. The Gov pledged to end business as usual and he did. That’s when Mell made those false allegations that he later recanted that led to the fed probe. The Big Jack enters the picture with more innuendo about hiring practices after getting big money from the Mell,Burke,trial lawyers group for his supposed run for Governor. I guess he has to do something in return. Plus, Jack and his Dad are probably still mad about tort reform. As far as your ignorance comment goes we’ll see who is laughing on election day. Its too bad that Moy guy didn’t take another shot at Jack!

Milorad should issue a special proclamation in honor of Bill’s blind loyalty, he owes Bill that much. Bill’s comments remind me of the Superman comic book world where everything was the exact opposite of reality. In that world Milorad would be the cornerstone of virtue as Bill so woefully believes.

quigley for mayor? ha! I don’t think his ego could fit inside the 5th floor of city hall. besides, he bailed on forrest claypool in the primary - he was supposed to be his field manager, but was no where to be found the day after he stepped out of the race. heck, he didn’t even send his chief of staff over to that race!
plus, the guy has built zero goodwill where he needs help the most - african americans, hispanics and sw/nw white ward committeemen. you can’t win a citywide race if you’re just relying on the low turnout lakefront wards. he doesn’t have a shot.
