* I received this e-mail from Illinois Channel executive director Terry Martin:

Unless they change it again, C-SPAN will air the Illinois Channel’s coverage of the Millikin Gubernatorial debate on Friday night 10/6, at 8 pm Central Time. This runs 54 mins

The Illinois Channel will air it on our network all next week, and of course video-stream it on our website.

We will also air the post-debate news conferences held by the Gov, Judy and Rich Whitney. This runs about another 30 mins.

* Miner: Chief justice Robert Thomas has sued former Kane County Chronicle columnist Bill Page for libel, and the trial is scheduled to begin October 24. There was an early skirmish last Friday in a restaurant parking lot in Saint Charles.

* Topinka visits Tinley to take aim at Blago taxes

* I saw Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan last night at a function in Chicago, but I couldn’t get anywhere near him because so many homeowners had formed around him demanding a do-over of their assessments. (kidding… just kidding)

* Simpson: Rubber-stamp aldermen might get bounced in next election

* Fawell receives 30 more months - Attorneys confident bid-rigging sentence will be reduced

  1. I watched the download of the debate that one of the newspapers put up this week, Judy has a MAJOR problem. She is AFRAID TO LOOK ROD IN THE EYE. During the debate the Governor’s body language said he was prepared for the attacks and what Judy was going to through his way. Sort of like “bring it on!” Judy on the other hand was AFRAID to look at him and when she turned her head in his direction she still did not make eye contact. Televising the debate will be bad for Judy. It will show how weak and timid of a candidate she really is. You would think someone with a “rolling pin” would have more CONFIDENCE, she has NONE.

Why is Judy afraid to make eye contact with Rod? Is that she does not believe a word that comes out of HER mouth?

  2. ‘Unions such as SEIU and mayoral campaigns such as Jesse Jackson Jr.’s are planning to support aldermanic challengers with both money and workers’

Now THAT’s is a jeremiad of Old Testament proportions - The Commies and the Tummy Tuck; one can’t do anything without Purple T-shirts and the other is addicted to fielding candidates willing to stand behind His steely gaze on bill-boards along 1-57.

Dick, how’s the teaching gig panning out?

  3. Sam Cahnman had his “rolling pin” statement yesterday, regarding legalizing video poker machines in bars statewide. When asked about the negative effects of expanding the accessibility of the gambling machines, he said somethingto the efect that “overeating is bad, some people over-eat, you wanna ban people from eating?” Chanman suggested adding the machines would help offset bar business that’s down from a smoking ban.

Sam, I was 100 percent in your corner on the open primary issue. But I think this is 100 percent wrong. It is an expansion of gambling, and one without even the hint of a justification like adding more funding to education or anything else.
The temptation to the outfit guys is too strong, these machines would have to be run by the lottery or revenue department and still you will have illegal side-betting going on. I just am not seeing much of an up-side to any of this.

  4. Judy is afraid to gaze in Milorad’s eyes because as we all know, based on his supporter’s actions, when one looks directly at him they are brought under his spell and henceforth believe anything he tells them no matter how absurd.

  5. Dick also said today that the IVI-IPO will be a “major force” in the Feb elections. Fat chance!
I will have to take a pass on the debate. It is the season premier of Battlestar Galactica.
I think we all know who is going to win.
    Bring it on!

  6. Joke away, but every single one of those homeowners should appeal his/her assessment to the state level if necessary. It works.
Not to the level of Blago’s bill but if you take the trouble to appeal and take the appeal as far as legally permissible you have well over a fifty percent chance of getting some relief.

Or if you like subsidizing your local school administrator’s lavish salary, pension, and general lifestyle, don’t appeal. But that’s where a lot of your property tax money is going.

  7. Now we know Bill’s secret; he’s a frackin’ cylon!

  8. Maybe the Topinka camp knows more about the “several” high profile indictments that are about to come down as a result of the Stuart Levine issue than they are letting on. Maybe she doesn’t want bad luck from locking eyes with someone whose pal Rezko got out of town for a while to get away from all the heat?

    Just a theory.
