Jackson, Jr. now in home confinement

Posted in:

* J3 is out of a halfway house and is now serving home confinement

“I’ve experienced and I’ve accepted the consequences of my behavior, my poor judgment and my actions,” he said.

Jackson pulled up his trousers slightly to show the tracking device over his white sock on his left ankle.

Jackson said he has been writing a memoir while serving his time.

“I plan to use the next several months of home confinement…to share with the American people not only my journey, but the journey of Americans who have erred and made mistakes of judgement that led to their incarceration,” Jackson said.

“My takeaway is that people should not leave this experience bitter. They should be the better, more determined, more committed.”

* He also said he wanted to go into teaching. More

Jackson, who pleaded guilty to spending $750,000 of campaign money on personal items in 2013, began his prison sentence on Nov. 1 of that year. The sentence does not officially end until September of this year, but Jackson became eligible to go home earlier.

After his release, Jackson must spend three years on supervised release under jurisdiction of the U.S. Probation Office and complete 500 hours of community service.

Sandi Jackson, former 7th ward alderman and the wife of Jesse Jackson Jr., will also serve prison time for filing false joint federal income tax returns that knowingly understated the income the couple received.

  1. Glad he is showing some contrition after serving his time.

  2. I guessing that “honey, I’m home,” wasn’t exactly a Hallmark moment for Sandi, considering what it means for her future.

  3. Sandi Jackson has to do the “year”.

The judge didn’t even give her “the day” as well to allow the 85% formula to kick in.

I go back and forth; JJJ going in first, when Sandi had the year, and then be done, I dunno.

Here is Jr’s “second chance”. He served his time.

  4. Surprisingly the best article I saw leading up to Jackson’s downfall came from outside our fine state.

I never liked him, but I actually felt a twinge of compassion for him after reading the article and spending time in any prison can’t be fun.

  5. I don’t like that he will make money off the book… /shrug in the end he may come out ahead financially for engaging in criminal conduct if he can sell his story…. if he publishes I hope the State at least goes after the costs of incarceration

  6. “…to share with the American people not only my journey…” He has a sense of his own grandiosity that I don’t think he will ever lose. No matter what he goes through. I’m one of “the American people” and I don’t have the slightest interest in hearing what he has to say about anything really. I guess the concept of Low Profile doesn’t fit here.

  7. This guy is just another greedy, selfish politician. He has nothing to offer the American people. It would be best if he were simply forgotten.

  8. They are hinting at a future political run. If he does and gets elected. What does that say for Illinois?

That we’re no smarter than Louisiana?

  13. He had it all - he just didn’t know it, or appreciate it, so he wanted more.
