* After posting “Livin’ on the Edge” on Friday, I spent part of the weekend listening to Aerosmith’s “Get a Grip.” Whatever the critics said at the time, those of us who were diehard fans in the ’70s knew down to our very marrow that this was their best album since those glory days. So, here’s one more…

IMHO Aerosmith has become to ballad-heavy in recent years. Would personally love to hear them put out something raw in the mold of the “Rocks” or “Toys in the Attic albums”.

Question regarding the hair band era: What was the deal with the high pitched voices? Was that a sound board treatment/filter that was fashionable then or was that these guy’s real voices?
BTW, It was a great weekend to catch up on Yes album rock. RIP to Chris.

Stones fans will hate me for this but I think Aerosmith is the greatest rock band ever. They are a bar band that got big. I remember years ago they had a tour of small venues in which they lost money but they felt they had lost touch with how fans of their music felt and wanted to regain that. When they’re on, nobodies better even the The Dead. Sorry Rich.

Tuesday Rich might want to bring in Down in the Flood, a Bob Dylan tune or When the levee breaks by Led Zeppelin. BS&T also covered Down in the Flood.

Saw Smith in ‘82 at the Rosemont Horizon. Loudest show I have ever attended. Lost some hearing for a day or two. Also, they were wasted then.
