Man, I’m sure glad I’m not a Cub fan.
First, the cross-town rivals White Sox win the World Series, then the cross-state rivals Cardinals take it all. Oof. That’s gonna leave a mark for sure. lol
Congratulations to all Cardinal fans, particularly this drunken crew. Gloat away.

Really bad 12 months for Cubbie fans. First the Sox, now the Cards. Wonder if they ever thought of trying to move to AAA ball? O never mind, they have been there for years. But hey, anyone can have an off century, or two.

It’s a great time for Sen. Frank Watson. First, his beloved Cardinals win and next, he will hold all his seats in the Senate (a huge victory considering Sen. Emil Jones was predicting a veto proof majority).

Hmmm… let me check Rich, have the Cubs ever thrown a World Series? Wait, has any organization ever thrown a World Series? Oh yes, that’s right, the White Sox have. The most notorious White Sox player is Shoeless Joe Jackson, one of the players who threw the series.
Question: Who wore white and black first, prisoners or the White Sox?
Answer: Doesn’t matter, but they both reside in The Cell.
Only Rich could turn a congrats for another team into a backhanded slap against the Cubs. Are you really that insecure in your White Sox team that you have to bash the Cubs at every chance you get? My bad though, I forgot how much Rich and all of the other Sox fans here added to their teams victory last year and the Cards victory this year.
Congrats to the Cardinals and their fans! The Cubs stunk this year and we will probably stink again next year. I personally have no problem being the Green Party of baseball though. I hear if we break .5%(00) we might get to debate the Cards and the White Sox. The Cubs? We will never break our principles to be corrupted and ‘win’. Some may call us spoilers but we live for September baseball against division leaders and teams in the wild card race.

I was glad about an all midwest world series. Not only did I get it but we got a National League victory for the world series. BTW, I like the Sox and the Cubs. Said to be impossible to do, however, there was no reason for the Cubs suckitude.

The World Series is about competitive baseball. The Tribune Company is not interested in competitive baseball, so why get worked up about what major league teams do?

I think the attitude from most in Chicago is, “let the baby have its bottle.”
Let’s face it, St. Louis needs SOMETHING. What do you have there other than humidity, a Six Flags and some Clydesdales? This is a town where they think Busch beer is some kind of nectar from the Gods.

Wrigley Field, aka cheater central, was corporate way before Cubs fans started dissing the Sox for the Cell.
you are clearly caught between a Sox and a Cards place!!!!

Just a thought. Perhaps the Cubs need a new stadium to appease the baseball gods and rid the team of the goat’s curse. New stadiums seemed to work for the Sox and Card’s.

I’ll say this right now. If the Cubs can’t at least get to the World Series in the next three years with Lou Piniella as the manager and a $100MM+ payroll, I have a feeling we’ll be talking about “Any one can have a bad bicentennial.” when we talk about the Northsiders.

Don’t forget, not only did their arch rivals win this year, and their crosstown rivals win last year, but the year before that the Red Sox, the only other “cursed” team who could in any way relate to the length of time the Cubs have suffered, won. 98 years is a long time. Two more years to the Centennial, and they are well on their way to making it.

SINCE THE CUBS WON THE WORLD SERIES…
Just in case we need to remember how bad it can be… here are 20 major events that have occurred since the Chicago Cubs last laid claim to a World Series championship:
1. Radio was invented. (Cubs fans get to hear their team lose)
2. TV was invented. (Cubs fans get to see their team lose)
3. Baseball added 14 teams. (Cubs fans get to see and hear their team lose to more clubs)
4. George Burns celebrated his 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th birthdays.
5. Halley’s comet passed Earth - twice.
6. Harry Caray was born… and died. Incredible, but true!
7. The NBA, NHL, NFL, IHL, and ISL were formed. (Each of those Chicago teams have each won championships)
8. Man landed on the moon. (As have several home runs given up by Cubs pitchers)
9. Sixteen U.S. presidents were elected.
10. There were 11 amendments added to the Constitution.
11. Prohibition was created and repealed.
12. The Titanic was built, set sail, sank, was discovered, and became the subject of major motion pictures. The latter giving Cubs fans hope that something that finishes on the bottom can come out on top.
13. Wrigley Field was built and becomes the oldest park in the National League.
14. Flag poles were erected on Wrigley Field roof to hold all of the team’s future World Series pennants. (Those flag poles have since rusted and been taken down)
15. A combination of 40 Summer and Winter Olympic games have been held.
16. Thirteen baseball players have won the Triple Crown. (Several thanked Cubs pitchers)
17. Bell-bottoms came in style, went out of style, and came back in.
18. The Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Florida Marlins have all won the World Series.
19. The Cubs played 14,153 regular-season games. (They lost the majority of them)
20. Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Oklahoma, and New Mexico were added to the Union.

It is great to see all the love out there.
Perhaps the Cardinals could buy the Cubs and “remold” the franchise into a winner!

You win a world series and all you can talk about is the Cubs. hahaha on you. the series was given to you a complete gift gee congrats for winninga series where the othe team committed more errors than a minor league team. woohooo, you guys are great. I d rather be a cool Cub fan than a hick Card fan any day.

Cardinals, Notre Dame, and Griffin all winning and Southern California losing in the same weekend. It just does not get any better than that.

There was this joke going around during the season about what the Cubs and the Cardinals had in common: They both had not won a World Series in their current ball park.

What else can Cardinal fans say– The stars aligned perfectly. A rag tag bunch that almost had a collapse of epic proportions in the regular season. Big time underdogs against the Padres, Mets and Tigers.
Enjoy Cardinal fans. You don’t know when you will be back to a place like this in history again. It took me 42 years to see my first World Series game. And then I got the terrific fortune of attending 3 games in 4 nites (Rain, frigid weather) etc.
Yes the Tigers did give it away, but just like the Medicaid people we would be stupid not to stand in line for it.
Sorry I missed on my prediction for the Series. I said Cardinals in 7.

World Series Champions!!! I love the jealous haters…. You have Cardinals envy…..but look at it this way…now “Wait till next year” can begin again. Chicago is a great city, but St. Louis is one of, if not the best baseball towns in the country. Continue the hate while we celebrate….
