Three cheers for the Associated Press!
Most politicians like to play it safe. Not Tim Nieukirk.He’ll blindside firefighters rushing to save cats caught in a tree. He won’t climb into bed with special interests, but he will with your sister. And he goes after a breed of criminal that most politicians prefer to ignore - the Hamburglar.
Nieukirk is the star of a series of over-the-top campaign ads promoting his write-in campaign for Illinois governor.
The campaign consists entirely of homemade ads on YouTube.com and a MySpace.com page, but Nieukirk says he’s filed the necessary paperwork in every county so that any votes he collects will be officially counted.

Now that the AP has done a piece, maybe the Chicago TV people will finally show an interest. After all, Nieukirk’s campaign is solely on video. What could possibly be better for a light and fluffy TV feature?

Tim, Tim, Tim…..if you’d have only started this six months ago, I would have helped spread the word, walked parades with you and even tossed Ricky off of the Trans Am. Get started earlier next time, Tim, and pretty soon you can call yourself a goverment worker!

You might as well call this the Capitol Fax candidate. If it wasn’t for your promotion of this fourth party candidate, Nukie wouldn’t even be a blib on the radar.

So AP and CBS will talk of a write-in candidate for Governor, but not mention anti-war candidate Bill Scheurer’s donkephant named Melissa McBeaney.

A list of the write-in candidates could not be found on any of the collar county websites.

I am actually thrilled to see that two young men of my generation are speaking out. Their antics may be unconvential…but that is what grabs attention…would any of you have noticed if they played it strait?? Go Tim and Casey…make us proud!!

HRH Weezer, you’re right. Well, I didn’t mean to lead you on a bum steer. One would think the collar counties, with all that tax base and all those people, would have sharp and robust web sites. In fact, they’re all pretty crappy.
I did find something on the Will County in the form of a PDF document: Write in Candidates for Illinois and Will County (PDF).
