  5. That is quite the suit.

Cueto’s name will forever be alive in St. Clair County.

Given what has gone down in East St. Louis over the last year or so, would electing this guy really be a problem or even a big deal?!

  10. Standard resume words

Comment by Anonymous Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 10:00 am

  11. Just when it can’t get any funnier…… a grant applicant inflammatorily accused state employees of holding the City of Naperville grant application “hostage”. It was in the compliance checking process, dot all the i’s and cross the t’s, does it really meet all grant criteria and eligibility?
You’ve got to be kidding me…..

Comment by illinoised Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 10:26 am

  13. Better a crook that you know than one you don’t know.

He can give seminars on what to expect when other politicians are sent to jail.

    Comment by D.P.Gumby Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 10:44 am

  20. I learned everything I needed to know about politics by watching soap operas as a child, but this one takes the cake.

Comment by Not quite a majority Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 10:47 am

  21. So, Honeybear, will you be voting for him? At least he is honest. Just kidding!

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 10:53 am

  22. Representative? Pish-posh, it’s directly to governor for you! You are eminently qualified!

    Comment by PolPal56 Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 11:01 am

  23. He is a visionary in dealing with Illinois’ growth industries, job creators and revenue enhancers. Rauner, Inc. should contribute to his campaign!

Comment by vole Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 11:22 am

  24. And back in the real world….where behavior like this is actually frowned upon?

Comment by Belle Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 11:32 am

  25. An example where being open and honest is a gift and a curse.

I hoe he does mail, maybe even a cable Ad or two…

Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 11:42 am

  26. He should be governor. At least he is honest about being dishonest. That’s better then what we got now.

Comment by DuPage Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 11:45 am

  27. Willy - he can afford to do whatever he wants. I doubt that the money needed to run his campaign is even an issue with him.

I have friends in his district and will see how this opens up. Granted, most of them are not as tuned into partisan politics and campaign dynamics like I think of myself as being. Should be interesting.

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 12:23 pm

  28. Only lied 150 times? If he wants to get into politics he has some catching up to do.

Comment by Ron Burgundy Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 12:28 pm

  29. - illini -

Now I may have to head down just for the show…

Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 12:37 pm

  30. Illini- alas not my district. I think I might have thought about it. I’m in the Kay/Stuart district. I just work in ESL. But OW you’re always welcome down here. We’ll sit on Cahokia Mounds and watch the electoral fireworks from there!

Comment by Honeybear Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 12:57 pm

  31. - Honeybear -, very kind of you.

Would make a heck of a 4th, see him in a parade, make all our way the Mounds… Cannoli…

I’ll let you and - illini - know…. Thanks to you both for the hospitality

Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 1:05 pm

  32. Willy - in some ways this could be as interesting as Jason was.

The cannolis are still on me as well any kind of liquid refreshment you chose.

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 1:22 pm

  33. Honeybear - I’m McCarter/Meier, so we are close. Thanks for inviting OW - he has has a standing offer from me for some time.

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 1:28 pm

  34. Reminds me of Dr. Will in the second season of the TV show Big Brother. He told everyone in the house from day one that he was a liar, but everyone convinced themselves the they were the one person he wasn’t lying to - and he won the game. Sometimes being truthful about being a liar is the best smoke screen of all - but only when accompanied by a huge dollop of charm.

    Comment by PolPal56 Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:01 pm

  35. I love downstate, the real downstate not the phony misunderstanding of geography.

You both are making it difficult to say no, and with a candidate like this rolling around…

Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:04 pm

  36. “And I promise you the kind of government you deserve!” Signed, Joe Isuzu…errr, I mean…

Convicted felon? Should he be trusted now? Then again he’s not lying about it…

    Comment by CrookCounty60827 Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:18 pm

  37. Can’t wait for his ads.

Comment by btowntruth Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:23 pm

  38. Step to the back of the line before you get on the bus.

Comment by Keyser Soze Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:34 pm

  39. ..And I’m a woman named Hillary…….make me President!

Comment by Chuck Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:47 pm

  40. I was told a Convicted felon can not vote in an election. Therefore, how can a Convicted felon legally run for office?

Comment by Mama Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:55 pm

  41. Sorry Chuck, but I must be missing something. What does your comment have to do with this thread?

I know I sometimes miss snark, and occasionally it takes me a bit to pick up on the Trolls.

    Your point?

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 2:57 pm

  42. I don’t get how this guy is actually Republican if he was in the middle of the Venezia stuff. Those were all Dems. Not that it really matters…

Comment by Anon Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 3:32 pm

  43. Anon - it does seem to be a disconnect, but I am not surprised. The Grim Reaper sets his own agenda. Can’t offer any insight.

Remember, this is St. Clair County politics and that there are any number of powerful and influential people and groups that are in play here. Burning bridges is one thing, but personal differences, and/or personal gain and aggrandizement are something else.

Will not speculate on his real motivation but it should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 4:10 pm

  44. OW, pick me up on the way down, would ya? I love a good show. Maybe we would be fortunate enough to find the Cubs at Busch, too!

To the Post, others would know better, but iirc this fellow has always identified as a Republican to my great chagrin.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 5:06 pm

  45. Arthur - the Cubs and Cards do play at Busch - great games always regardless of either teams prowess and strengths in any given year. Always a great series.

And you may well be right that Bob has been voting R for many years - would be a surprise, but might be expected.

Comment by illini Thursday, Dec 3, 15 @ 5:23 pm

  46. This guy has a real shot. He’s got former ESL Mayor Carl Officer in his camp. His radio show is something else. His slogan is “Vote the Person, not the Party”. He’s not afraid of speaking his mind.
