Rauner’s own budget outline was over $3 Billion out of balance or are you just too ignorant of the facts?
Governor’s Veto. That means the Governor made a choice, and then refused to pay bills after the veto.
Also, learn about the Illinois Constitution, like Article VIII, Section 2, (a)
Raunerbot ignorance is confusing after 14 months.

Grumpy Gus: because the governor is not an innocent bystander in all of this. He can use his line-item veto to bring the appropriations bills into line with available revenues. Or he can propose additional revenues to bring them into line with spending. Or he could stop executing hostages until he gets the ransom he demands.
So he doesn’t get to “cheer” the victims of his refusal to do his job.

Rauner submitted a fantasy budget that was billions out of balance. I don’t understand why the citizens of this state don’t point more blame at the Governor for failing to perform his constitutional duty.

Grumpy: If the General Assembly didn’t “do its job” by passing an unbalanced budget, then didn’t the Governor also fail to do his job, which is to propose a balanced budget?? So far he has proposed two budgets $billions in the red, yet you want to put all the blame on the Democrats?

I think it’s time we give the governor a nickname: The Bystander
He continues to behave as if he hasn’t been governor the last 16 months. He “hears rumors” about budget negotiations, acts like he doesn’t have line item and reduction veto power, and then when he does veto a bill, pretends like he didn’t.

Governor Rauner met with homeless youth providers and their clients. Remember Caprice’s piece in Crain’s? He told them he would not support legislation that appropriates the money to pay their contracts. Most of the providers that were in that meeting are part of the lawsuit. You told them you won’t support them being paid, they are suing you to get paid, and you cheer them on because it is a disgrace they aren’t getting paid.
If this is Rauner’s sad attempt at a Jedi mind trick, it isn’t working.

Because the political class, and many of the voters in Illinois, know that the FY15 GA budget was in response to Rauner’s earlier intentional misrepresentation about “working together” to find revenue to fill the gap from the expiring tax surcharge.
“…Some men you just can’t reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is THE WAY HE WANTS IT. WELL, HE GETS IT. I don’t like it any more than you men.”
We are seeing some rabbit blood here, he is running from his own self-inflicted consequences.

Let me also clarify something, so there’s no mistake…
Thompson, Edgar, Ryan… Republican Governors knew what a Veto was, what it meant, that they these Republican Governors were Vetoing purposely as their choice and… it was a Veto, a move only a governor in our government can do.
Rauner, a Raunerite, usurped the ILGOP. That’s over and done. But, if making the case “Rauner, the Republican, is doing… “, it’s more about how far the ILGOP fell than Rauner being a Republican governor. A Republican governor in the governing aspects governors actually work for a better Illinois.
The new ILGOP, the Raunerization of a Party, is an example of a party walking away from what it had fought for, including being true to what it believes, and honest to how it will govern.

RNUG- unfortunately I believe it is stage IV Affluenza. Dunkin caught it from Rauner and it was fatal to his political career.

How can anyone who even remotely knows what actually has been going on this past year believe anything our Governor says?
He has zero credibility and still appears to be denying that he has any responsibility. He appears to be either more obtuse or disengaged than I think he is or has such a low opinion of the electorate that he thinks will believe anything he says.
Sad and far more disturbing than I could ever have ever imagined.

Rauner knows most people do not follow what happens at the state capitol. Those folks don’t know Rauner vetoed the budget last year. Therefore, he can publically spin the budget crisis however wants it spun..& those folks will believe him.

It appears it means a lot of different things to lots of different people. I’m part of the blame for that, making it evolve, at times to being a “one issue voter”, with the one issue being Gov. Rauner.

Dan Rutherford tweeted recently a picture of “Illinois Senate Alumi” meeting. Take a real good look at that picture. You have former senators that had labor support, were advocates of teachers, were “Legislator of the Year” for many of the Social Service groups being hurt right now.
The diversity, along with Pate Phillip himself in the picture, really shined what was special about the GOP Senate Majority Caucus and the “Gorillas” making clear their constituencies many at odds with Gov. Ryan were going to be heard, and not “roll over” easily.
It’s the Big Tent, and representing a constituency beyond moving an agenda. It’s about recognizing that a college in your district may very well be the economic engine of a region, and voting to hurt it, that’s not happening.
It’s not Pollyanna or even rose colored glasses of a past that was as sorted as done issues are today, but “vote accordingly” is putting front and center reminding legislators who they are and not ignoring that for a $20 million stick held over their heads.
The Raunerization of the Republican Party here is found easily in “Yellow” or “Red” votes or even NVs because being a thoughtful legislator just isn’t possible. The Raunerization of the Republican Party isn’t advancing growth of a party put taking Slytherin ideals to an all new levels
I try not to, purposely, go after Radogno or Durkin because I feel in my heart while there are parts of the Rauner Agenda they agree with, it’s no accident whatsoever that monies are held over their heads and that hammer is there to be used against them. I like and root for them. I push because I’d like to think they know they could help more by being much more autonomous.
To the legislators themselves, they know if they are turning on their own past or constituents because of the Raunerization. If they are, “Vote Accordingly” and send a message.
If a candidate embraces the Raunerization and it flies in the face of what logically makes sense, “Vote Accordingly”.
I really like when Comptroller Munger goes about her business by being the Comptroller and doing what needs to be done for a better Illinois. I’m not happy when the Raunerization of her words is unneeded, but inserted anyway.
Finally, as Rauner walks away from Trump, the ironic similarities are one reason, but reading the Tribune’s assessment of Trump and its own ignoring of the Rauner paralells is like all involved in this Raunerization refusing to look in the mirror.
“Vote Accordingly” is just another mirror.
So, if others look at this as a single issue stance, I do not.
It’s looking at those proxies and saying “Is there Raunerization going on to the detriment of their constituents, or are beliefs coming to light due to monies gained, or is it fear that we find candidates embracing who they are not?”
“Vote Accordingly”, be the mirror they can’t avoid.
