Today’s number: $5 million

Posted in:

* It’s taken most of the mainstream media until only recently to report on Gov. Rauner’s huge contributions to the Illinois Republican Party, so maybe we’ll see some stuff on these developments by October…

Liberty Principles gets $1 million from Ken Griffin, now with an estimated $5 million on hand. https://t.co/qdNO8PlWzw

Liberty Principles PAC is run by Dan Proft, just in case you weren’t aware.

  1. A handful of rich white dudes are giving most of the money to Republicans. I’m sure they have EVERYONE’s interest at heart. Everyone who can fit in their limousine, that is.

  2. That Rauner, he’s a man of the people, and I’m sure this effort was “really intended to protect nation’s hardest workers” too because that’s his only motivation. /s

  3. Let’s remember, Ken Griffin makes over $1 Billion a year. Every year he keeps the tax rate from going back up to 5% is worth $20 million for him.

I’m guessing there will be more before November.

  4. Might want to check your math Country. Think how much he’d save if he moved to Texas?

  5. Money for the campaigns of republicans and patronage jobs in state government for the democrats. Ask yourself if you would rather have someone else’s money go to waste or have your tax dollars go to waste?

  6. Newspapers must be a bad investment.

  7. Oh great I get to watch even more new Michael McAuliffe commercials.

  8. - patronage -

If you think Rauner appointees aren’t, on their own free time, legally, volunteering for Raunerite campaigns, I’ll have what you’re having, lol

  9. I’m hoping the Liberty Principles PAC and Dan Proft can continue to mirror my beloved Washington Redskins and their owner Dan Snyder. They always outspend everybody and never get any return on their investment. Maybe Proft can back Albert Haynesworth for a race? LOL

    all parties.

  11. Between Diana Rauner (”I’m a Democrat!”), Bruce Rauner, and Ken Griffin, you don’t need to many more “patrons of politics” in the Raunerite Party.

IllinoisGo folded because being phony didn’t pay, lol

    Hater gonna hate, hate, hate…

  18. That was in GOP primaries, Rhino. And also relative to IL GO, which is hardly a ringing endorsement. Dan Proft knows how to speak to the true believers among so-called conservatives. Not sure he speaks the same language as suburban women.

But whatever. He makes a decent living at it and I’m more than a little jealous. Neither Fred nor JB has given me a nickel to spend, but I’d like to think I can speak to liberal Democrats with the same nuance and effect that Proft speaks to his faithful.

    Voters gonna vote too.
