Gov. Rauner attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Richelieu Foods manufacturing facility in Wheeling that will create 100 new jobs. CBS2 Chicago covered the event, saying:
“Governor Bruce Rauner has been promising that he will create manufacturing jobs. And now, he has delivered. Massachusetts-based Richelieu Foods is bringing 100 new jobs to north suburban Wheeling - the private label pizza maker crediting Rauner for the hard sell.”

More like this, please. I would live to hear the Administration tout Illinois and successes they can claim where Illinois and Rauner himself were seen positively and the governor making an impact, and using the office to build.

Illinois has 33,000 more jobs today than a year ago.
Chicago metro has 45,000 more jobs over that time.

Are you sure Ron? I thought Illinois was supposed to be in an economic death spiral that could only be reversed by the Turnaround Agenda.
Do you mean to tell me that jobs are being created in Illinois despite not passing a single item of Rauner’s pro-business plan?

Ok, so what’s different about this company? The Rauner administration consistently mentions the hoards of businesses supposedly fleeing the state because of WC costs, taxes, etc etc and how it’s nearly impossible to lure new businesses. What made Richilieu want to set up shop here?

…as thousands of Illinois college students head out of state for greener pastures. Maybe some of those laid off university workers can get in line for those jobs. Too little, too late. The damage has been done.

Illinois is losing population and has the 5th highest state and local tax burden in the nation. The state has terrible job growth and high unemployment. Why would college grads stay?

Rauner should have been selling Illinois as a place for business to locate right from the start. For the last almost 2 years he has described Illinois to businesses looking at locating here with phrases such as “we’re toast”, and “Illinois is in a death spiral”.

Still along way to go for all you people who think Illinois employment picture is acceptable.
We trail Alaska, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, Arizona, Mississippi, DC and Washington.
For those that think Kansas (4.1%), Wisconsin (4.2%) are in a death spiral, they are beating us by a mile.
So is Iowa (4.1%), Minnesota (3.9%), Michigan (4.5%), Indiana (4.6%) Missouri (4.7%) and Kentucky (4.9%)
Sorry I see very slow growth in Illinois and it is embarrassing how many of our politicians turn a blind eye to this reality.

As of 5/2/2016 headcount at EIU reduced by 363 in previous 12 months. U of I fighting to hold onto top faculty and reputation/ranking built over many decades. Scratches surface of damage done to statewide higher education hostages. This done primarily by Rauner and his crusade to destroy public sector unions, some of the few good paying middle class jobs left. But they are union jobs so they must disappear, something private equity guys like Rauner know how to do so well. He said he may need to create a crisis for leverage and he is doing it. Leverage or govern, Rauner made the choice.
So congratulations Bruce on owning the 100 jobs. YOU also own a large portion of the devastating harm to the social service agencies and their clients and the higher education job loses.
As Jeb Bush once said , “You can clap now.”

@ Ron. One of the key reasons to create jobs is to reduce poverty. If Texas is so good at creating jobs, why is it that Texas has a higher poverty rate than Illinois?

Scamp 640- Texas is a border state and has a large immigrant population who tend to be low income. Not a whole lot in common with Illinois from an economy perspective.
There was a reason Chicago and the rest of Illinois were so prosperous years ago. We have so many advantages in terms of location and natural resources. Now a positive government and business environment are all that is holding us back

@ Lucky Pierre. Sorry, you’re argument is not sound. Illinois has many immigrants. Plus, on any social indicator, including life expectancy, literacy, poverty, Illinois is better off than Texas. Job creation in and of itself does not improve the commonwealth of a state. A state has to convert job growth into household well-being. Right to work states don’t do that very well. So anytime folks quote job numbers, they should also cite poverty reduction numbers.
