Question of the day

Posted in:

* Politico

Hackers are targeting state Democratic Party officials and have successfully breached and impersonated some of them, according to a message the Association of State Democratic Chairs sent Wednesday to its members.

“A number of chairs and state parties have been victims of hacks and impersonation recently,” read the email, which POLITICO obtained.

On Monday, [Raymond Buckley, president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs] posted on Facebook that his Twitter account was hacked last week and that Facebook had warned him about someone pretending to be him and trying to delete his profile. “Three other Dem State Chairs had their emails hacked,” he wrote in his post, which has since been deleted. “Interesting times.”

Speaker Madigan doesn’t use e-mail, doesn’t have a Facebook page and doesn’t use Twitter, so we can safely assume he wasn’t hacked.

* The Question: What would a hacked Democratic Party of Illinois Facebook page look like?

Snark is heavily encouraged, of course.

    “News From the Pond” - “Duckling” press releases, all the same with the usual 4-5 words swapped out for “locality”

    “New Faces, New Places” - bragging posts about friends and family getting new patronage jobs and who to talk to about backfilling the old job.

    “Look For The Union Label” - highlighting Rauner talking points and how Rauner labels Labor and Democrats as awful. Instead of a “thumbs up” like, you respond with “thumbs down” emojis.

    “Hard Hat Area!” - post and pictures of ongoing construction projects Democrats take credit for, or project “held hostage” to that mean ol’ Bruce Rauner!

    This should not be confused with.,,

    “High Lites” - Rep. Lang gives a special perspective to his “visions”, some might be about government.

    Finally…

    “We Love Feedback” - takes you to a page that closes the Window entirely.

    “Contact Us” - Lists District Offices numbers with the disclaimer “Cell Phones not included”

  15. It would have some quotes, highlighted, that would go something like this:

    “Do you see, Mr. Mapes, once again I am always 13 steps ahead of everyone else. When Durbin and everyone said that doing social media was the cool thing to do back in 2010, I didn’t. Why? Because I know the Russians would start hacking sites in 2016. Again, I was several steps and years ahead of the curve on this and everything else.”
