Madigan has big bucks on hand

* The Tribune looks at the cash on hand of various politicians at the end of the third quarter…

— Speaker Michael Madigan: four combined political funds’ cash on hand, $9.4 million.

— Gov. Rauner: $5 million (raised $5 million in Quarter 3; spent $15 million and counting).

— Mayor Emanuel: $670,000 (raised $425,000 in Quarter 3).

— Attorney General Lisa Madigan: $2.4 million ($330,000 raised in Q3).

— Secretary of State Jesse White: $421,000 ($32,000 raised in Q3).

— Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti: $3,500 ($5,000 raised in Q3).

I think the headline should have been RAUNER SPENDING BIG BUCKS!. His $5 million raised + $15 million sent is greater than Madigan’s $9.4 million on hand.

Indeed the almighty $ is crucial. It’s also really important when, how and where you spend it. Not sure the Rauner group has all the angles figured out.
