The government needs to move quickly, [Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley] told a large gathering of wealthy conservative and libertarian donors gathered in California, to send power back to the states and deregulate the economy. The problem is how slowly Washington, D.C. moves, and how the administration is tied up in bureaucracy. But if states, which know which regulations affect them hardest, sue, that would give the feds the power to simply settle and withdraw the reg.
“If a state would bring a suit against a regulation, it gives the federal government the opportunity to withdraw that regulation.”
This, he told donors and reporters, “will give the government the ability to move quickly on deregulation.” […]
“I like President [George W.] Bush but… look, they screwed it up,” Rauner told attendees, echoing a common center-right gripe that Bush did not do enough to decentralize government. “Send power back to the states.”
OK, but what are you gonna do with that power, governor? I mean, dude, you can’t even pass a budget with your reforms.

Bruce insists on continuing one of the sorrier charades an adult can do; refusing to adapt to the way things are and instead demanding more more more. You’re the governor, Bruce. Instead of saying why you can’t get anything done because of Mike Madigan or the Federal government or whatever boogeyman you want to blame, GET. SOMETHING. DONE.

Nothing is more thrilling then anyone telling you what needs to be done when they can’t get anything of measurable accomplishment done within the subject.
How will giving power back to the state get Rauner 60 and 30.

Actually being grossly inept helps Rauner get his $7-10 million in dark/outside monies. It’s the long game.
Actually, the is Rauner showing us all his genius.
Now, Rauner only needs to derail the Dems Guv primary with this influx of “non-Rauner” cash for plausible deniability.

Lot of big talk there at Governor Sleepover Camp. Nice break from all the focusin’.
Must have been a safe place for the governor, not like those sleepover camps in Cleveland and DC that the governor was scared to go to because that Trump guy would be at them.

lol it’s funny how they cheer this but then states like Ohio then pass laws that take power away from cities
They should say it as the mean it. Let the GOP/koch control the issue and they will decide which level of government controls it
Example social issues run by locals when the fed is run by dem
Minimum wage increases being passed by cities the GOP steps in and say no to local control
They could care less about the people it’s all profit motive for them.

It sounds to me like feds plans to stop federal funds from going to the states. Correct me if I’m wrong. That would puts public schools in a world of pain.

well, if you live in a state where they don’t mess things up (hello Kansas) fine. Cali, NY, good. but so many states are a nightmare of right wing thought right now. not that the government of Donald/Stephen/Stephen is any better, but…..

This is the same Governor who said Medicaid should not go to block grants because the State of Illinois could not manage the change. States must demonstrate competence. Or at least claim competence.

Sue the federal government to force them to do what you want!! Damn that Lisa Madigan for using attorney powers to try and make me do a budget.
If I just say it when no one is listening maybe I can later say the exact opposite and it’d be all good- people aren’t really as smart as me any way.

Everyone who receives these e-mails should reply back to him politely. Thanks for the information, but I will make my decision based on facts. Flood his inbox. If he is sending these to all state employees can you imagine the number of responses if just 1/3 responded like that.

Nothing says democracy better than sending power back to the states. “State’s rights” is such a good idea, said no civil rights advocate ever.
