Chicago Police Officer Kevin W. Graham once picketed with the Fraternal Order of Police carrying a sign that called for ending the residency requirement for Chicago cops: “If the city wants to save money, lift residency requirement,” it read.
In 2013, he and his wife sold their split-level house in Edgebrook on the city’s Northwest Side — and bought a more expensive four-bedroom house in Lincolnshire, about 25 miles outside the city limits in Lake County. […]
Records also show Graham’s wife was registered to vote from the Lincolnshire address and that Graham was registered from a 900-square-foot basement apartment in West Town, a near West Side Chicago neighborhood. Two cars Graham owns aren’t registered to either address, but to the 19th District police station where he works. […]
The Grahams claim a homestead exemption on the property tax bill for the Lincolnshire house. […]
Graham said he moved out of basement apartment after it flooded “about a year ago” and now lives in a Lake View condominium owned by his sister. He admits he voted using the West Town address five months ago, but told poll workers he had moved before they gave him a ballot.
Doesn’t look good.

News comes out now that fop is in a runoff campaign. More Chicago style politics. Rahm needed a wedding dress to prove his residency. Maybe Graham left a tuxedo in the old basement address.

Rahm gets judge to prove he lives in a house he is currently renting to someone else. Also able to get his kids in the best schools. Meanwhile other poor fool who move out of the city for better schools for their kids would be fired. O the hipocracy.

This is not out of the ordinary. Many cops do this so their address isn’t readily available. More of a safety concern for the officer and his family then living out of the city.
Residency is a dumb rule, but it’s still the rule.

Oh, then that’s okay if a an officer of the law breaks the law. It’s for “officer safety” and we taxpayers can never question that.
Years back when my carbureted sedan would not pass Illinois’ emissions test, I changed the registration to my relative’s address outside of Cook County to receive a waiver from IEPA so I could keep driving the car. I was young and poor at the time.
The local police stopped me for a ticket. Months later I was stopped and found out my plates were suspended. The local P.D. had snitched me out to the Secretary of State to give me a hard time.
The little people can’t get away with anything, but the thin blue line is above the law in so many ways. Equal justice under law, and wave the miniature wooden flag while you’re at it.

There is a difference between residency
And domiclie. You can be a resident and never sleep there. Rham proved that. He went further he rented it and he still won

Mrs. Graham must really pull down the big bucks. No wonder he doesn’t want a divorce. /s
Meanwhile Dean Angelo has no residency issue…because he lives one whole block inside the boundary.
The love and respect some public servants have for our fair city, its residents, and the law is plain enough.

There’s a disconnect and profound irony in law enforcement officials registering their personal vehicles at the address of their employment, since the Drivers Privacy Protection Act of 1994 prohibits the disclosure of personal information (as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 2725) without the express consent of the person to whom it applies.

The Illinois law that allows law enforcement to hide their home address on vehicle registrations also permits elected Sheriffs to do so!?!?
