State Rep. Dan Brady said he expects the Illinois House will pass a budget before the spring session ends in May.
The Bloomington Republican told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin and Patti Penn he expects House Speaker Mike Madigan will use his Democratic majority to pass a spending plan, but who knows were it will go from there.
* The Question: Do you think the session ends this year with yet another partisan House budget? Please explain.

I would be a bit surprised if MJM didn’t.
That would mean Raunerites voting against..
K-12 funding
Agencies funding
Functions of government funding
… maybe 12 bills…
I’ve seen this movie before.
When the Raunerites get burned, (again) voting against, say K-12, and Rauner signs it…
Then again, what if MJM decides “Leader Durkin can find 60″
Then again, what if the Senate Grand Bargain supersedes the House, forcing the House to do… something.
But, here’s the question;
“Do you think the session ends this year with yet another partisan House budget?”
I say “Yes”, but here’s the rub… for me…
“Can it move in the Senate to make the votes move a real budget?”
That, I’m not seeing that, no.

The House will pass a budget.
The Senate may pass a budget.
But it won’t be the same budget ..

Yes, in large measure due to legislators like Rep. Brady who are more concerned with alignment with their party and their re-election than the obvious, painful needs of their constituents.

Yes. The Senate has been hamstrung by Rauner and will not pass anything on their own. The House always passes a budget and will do so again this year. With the Grand Bargain dead, they won’t have enough pressure on them to pass a balanced budget. It will just be a spending plan unrelated to revenues.
I don’t see how it can be anything but “partisan.” Given the example of Radogno, Durkin’s not going to do any compromisin’.

If the Senate is ANY indication, Durkin won’t conpromise. Why? Ask Leader Radogno where that got her
Rauner will sabotage the House bipartisanship, the Senate Grand Bargain tells me so.

Did Laughlin or Penn happen to ask Brady which way he’d have voted if the Senate bargain made it over to the House?
The correct answer is: whichever way the Governor wants me to vote.

Yes, House will pass a budget. The big Q is whether the Dems will finally work together and get an agreement on one to pass both chambers. This puts more pressure on Rauner.

Hope Madigan see’s the forest form the trees and passes the “grand bargain as last seen(in the trash can in the senate) dusts it off and sends it to the senate to choke on. But I am a dreamer.

Since Brown doesn’t do predictions it’s nice that the House Republicans have stepped up to fill the void.
I’d forgotten that Brady got hired as Madigan’s Republican spokesman.
Just wonderin’, what have the House Republicans been doing in 2017?

Wasn’t meaning to make a value judgement. Just predicting his actions in response to the question. Do you think he will? And, if he will, do you think he can move Madigan?

Let me know when the governor proposes that balanced budget.
Funny how challenging governing is (or might be if the governor ever tried it). After years of riding along frivolously the GOP actually has to do something, besides complain, now that they have the governor’s office.
By the way, somebody may want to let them know they can join the process.
