* Mayor Rahm Emanuel went off again on Gov. Rauner yesterday…
“When it comes to the issue of choice and health for everybody, the governor when he was a candidate took a position … that was clear and defined, and he’s now flipped on that,” Emanuel said after an event to announce the construction of a new grocery store in West Woodlawn.
Emanuel also contended that Rauner went back on his word to provide Chicago Public Schools with $215 million in additional pension funding — although Rauner has said it was Democrats who didn’t come through on a broader deal to reform the state’s pension system — and initially balked at a bill that would have helped the renewable energy industry that the governor said he supported.

“To work and get a budget passed, you have to be trusted and I would tell you on this position, while you can just narrowly focus on the issue of choice which is a fair enough way to measure it, I think it goes to an issue of trust and the voracity of somebody’s word when they give it to you,” said Mayor Emanuel.
The mayor said he’d be pleasantly surprised if Rauner’s prediction of a school funding bill is near, but he doubts it.

The governor’s spokeswoman, Eleni Demertzis, responded to the mayor’s latest broadside by insisting that Rauner has been “consistent on the issues.”
“It’s unfortunate that Mayor Emanuel is continuing his tired finger-pointing instead of working with the Governor to address the challenges facing the city and state,” Demertzis wrote in an email.
As for the abortion bill approved by the Illinois House, Demertzis said Rauner “opposes a massive expansion of taxpayer funding that would put Illinois out of step with nearly every state in the union. However, he has asked the General Assembly to pass a clean bill to remove the ‘trigger’ language.”

To the Governor’s Office’s response;
The upcoming veto can’t be explained away that way, given the questionnaire. The veto will haunt Rauner with suburban women.
To Emanuel,
That is THE Rauner soft spot;
Credibility and trust.
There’s plenty of wide-ranging issues that Rauner flat out refused to, not only be a trusted partner, but actually sabotaged and purposely misled his own actual partners on the solutions Rauner pretends he wants.
Credibility and trust. Rauner continues to prove you can’t trust him, and the credibility of Diana and Bruce Rauner’s words are eroding by the second.
When your goal is an Ounce of Deception, at some point it comes back to ding your credibility.
How can we trust Buce when we can’t trust Diana’s word anymore too?

Question about how the line-item veto works - is that only available in appropriations bills? If BVR really wanted to remove the trigger language from the law, is he not able to line item out the expansion of coverage?

The Administration response is a hoot.
Yes the Governor has been “consistent.” Consistently untrustworthy.
Yes there’s too much “tired finger pointing.” But it’s all towards Madigan.
Who writes this stuff? How much is that person paid? Inquiring taxpayers want to know.

Pretty rich of Mayor Emmanuel and Forrest Claypool to criticize the Governor for going back on his word and changing his position.
Both promised taxpayers that CPS would end the 7 percent pension pickup for CTU so teacher’s share of the pension contribution would gradually rise from 2 percent to the full 9 percent.
They failed spectacularly and now expect a bailout from the state to recoup the 215 million dollar extra pension contribution.
Governor Rauner said he would support if statewide pension reform was passed but neither will step up and do what was promised to get the extra state funding.

Rauner also said his veto purposely hurting Chicago students was done emotionally, with Cullerton quite confused why Rauner vetoed the $215 million, purposely, without any heads up, emotionally.

Of course you think Rauner let down Chicago students, but you ignore Rahm, Claypool, Cullerton, Madigan. 50 aldermen one of whom is running for Governor, all the Senators and House members from Chicago.
Voters are quite confused why Senator Cullerton can’t pass his own bill so the kids in his district can finish the school year.
That is your stock and trade, Rauner is responsible for everything bad and no one else

That’s a pretty rich response coming from an administration who’s entire narrative involves finger pointing.

Stop being a victim and arguing like a child.
Again, not once have you acknowledged the Governor’s responsibility in any of this. The dishonesty is mind boggling.
