Rauner hosts third graders for Facebook Live program

Posted in:

* KHQA

Thursday, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner hosted a live event on his Facebook page to connect with Illinois students.

Additionally, third graders from Riverton Elementary School joined Governor Rauner at the State Capitol as part of the Facebook Live. […]

Gov. Rauner took questions from students and teachers from across the state.

He also spoke about what it’s like to work every day for the people of Illinois and how he’s working to ensure every child in Illinois receives a high-quality education.

If you missed it, you can watch by clicking here.

The governor also told the children about his favorite foods (ice cream, hamburgers and pie), the time that his pet snake got out and scared his mom and how he loved multiplication tables when he was in third grade.

* And some of those little kids were either really tired, or bored or both today…

  1. I thought that was the press corps until I realized there were too many.

  2. Why am I not surprised he had a snake…

  3. I wonder if the Gov could handle the specific questions that his press people allowed the kids to ask? I’m sure there were no surprises allowed to surface.

  4. “We’ve effectively abolished the death penalty in Illinois but we now have a punishment far more cruel and diabolical - listening to a FB live broadcast!”

  5. That pic is TOOOO funny. Similar to the picture of GA members during the State of the State.

  6. Much to the chagrin of the kids, they were told it would be a “fun” field trip and they’d get to hear from a real motorcycle dude, or cowboy, or something…

  7. They look like I feel listening to Rauner’s same old baloney talking points every, every, every … day.

  8. Using students as a prop after spending two years destroying education in this state?

I know electeds do stuff like this, but his performance in office makes it sort of offensive.

It is sort of like if Blago decided to go to a children’s hospital for a photo opportunity.

Rauner continues to either not understand the impact he’s having, or simply not care.

Right now, I don’t know if funds will allow my kids (CPS students) to finish the school year. CPS is suggesting schools may close nearly a month early.

And what do we get from Rauner? He blames Madigan. Period. Nothing else.

  12. These kids’ response is spot-on. They know when they’re being set up as political props, even at this age.

Geez Rauner, you ran out of adults believing your yarns? Yes. Yes you have, haven’t you?

  13. Tough advance call-see them right before lunch or right after? Had that been me, I would have prayed for light lunch and done it right after.

I fail to see Rich doing any bashing what so ever on this post. The Governor made his bed and it’s an FB live post. Are you saying Rich should ignore it?

  15. (Long painful silence)

“I have foxes living under my porch”

    “I have a motorcycle… ”

    “I bought a cow at the state fair… ”

    (Child sneezes)

“I’m… the… Governor? Is that cool?”

    (Child raises hand)

“Yes, a question. Your name and what your question”

Child: I’m Robbie. Where’s your bathroom, my nose is bleeding

    And… Scene.
