* I’ve hesitated to use this poll for two reasons. First, it’s from an advertiser. Second, it’s an online poll. So, I’ll leave it up to you if it’s worthy of discussion…

May 12-15, 2017. Total sample of 613 likely Illinois voters, aged 18 years old and older. Margin of error is +/- 4% 5-minute online survey hosted on Morar Consulting’s proprietary online research platform.

Even if it is self-selected and skewed, at 69% the numbers are so lopsided you have to think the overall sense / direction of the participants has some accuracy.

If that is the exact language of the second question, it’s amazing that more people didn’t choose “budget”.

Even as a proponent of recreational weed to the point where I could be called a radical, I really don’t see how anyone could’ve picked that over the budget (or healthcare for that matter).

“If you answered “budget” to #3, which of the following do you agree with more:
a) In exchange for raising the income tax back to the time Governor Quinn was in office, there should be across the board 5% cuts to all state programs except education, and a Constitutional referendum should offered the voters to 1) curtail future public union benefits, 2) put term limits on elected officials and 3) forbid gerrymandering in drawing legislative districts.
b) raise the taxes without any sequestration cuts or political reforms.

why wouldnt the pollster include right to work, work comp, term limits, and redistricting reform? That would have made the results more interesting.

5% really believe recreational pot is the most important issue in the state?

If you want tax revenue, those 5% are on to something very big. Like hundreds of millions in tax revenue annually.
That’s a big pension payment.

The 17% that think IL is on the right track must be the same population that think recreational marijuana is our most important issue.
