  1. Paul,

Phil Kadner has one hell of a story in the Daily Southtown - Phil does not react to a story and then wrap himself up like he’s Joe Pulitzer. Phill Kadner goes for the story well before everyone else hops on the wagon:

    This one will be HUGE!

  4. Here I am defending Blago again. What a switch.

It’s not just Blago who “wants to tax and spend too much.” It’s our Democratic legislators and leaders as a group. Does anybody think that our current leaders, all Dems, would be sitting quietly if Blago announced that he would like to spend this gubernatorial term living off existing revenues and cutting where necessary to make that possible. Of course not. There would be a huge outcry about all the so-called poor people and the so-called poor schools and the underfunded pensions and the loss of state jobs and on and on. Emil might not have as many Earmarks.

We voted in Democrats. They want to raise more money, lotso money. If the business community, in particular, didn’t see this coming, (and a whole lot of them voted for Blago), they deserve to go out of business. Part of being a successful business person is being able to make accurate predictions about the future. And this one was easy to predict. What else would a second-term Democratic governor possibly do but expand social programs and raise taxes.

Nope, the only question here is which tax plan, that is, who pays. And I still believe I’ll pay less under GRT.

  5. Fire your acclaimed police chief and praise your indicted garbage chief-The upside down world of da mare. One might think pancho might have a little something on da mini boss.

By the way, Huby is comin to the force, not to fix the place but to get him out of da boys pockets. No more Huby spies tellin lies about the guys. Time to set things right and grease the skids for brother-in-laws throughout the underbelly. These guys haven’t worked in months and sis is all over em. Back to the future.

  6. The gull of Cardenas wanting to limit the unions of their contributions. Surely, I for one did not like that our union dues are now going up because of all the contributions they have made (unions), but how else can the voters, besides meeting him or asking for services, know how arrogant and self serving he is. Cardenas just doesn’t want another fight on his hands in the next election of the same calibur.

  7. Isn’t that Cardenas guy in bed with the HDO? Wow. How hypocritical of him.

  8. Oh Todd Stroger…I wonder when he’ll stop making himself such an easy target.

  9. Cardenas’s ordinance doesn’t have a chance and I bet he knows it. This is just another tactic in the campaign to make it look like union money “bought” the municipal elections.

It’s much easier to call the unions racist outsiders on a power trip than it is to convince people to oppose issues like living wage, health care, affordable home ownership, or ending school closings. The more that the press talks about the money, the less they talk about the thousands of union members in places like the 2nd, 3rd, 16th and 21st wards.

  10. “The boat capsized. Who survived?” he asked before getting to the punchline. “The American people.”

Ah, yes, GOP humor: calling for your political opponents to die. If Democrats had said something similar, the professional class of GOP whiners would be all over their brain-dead cable news shows screeching for the FBI to investigate. Yet I hear crickets when it’s a Republican making the joke. Hmm.

  11. Todd Stroger’s sweatheart janitorial contract for his political buddies actually got shot down by the Cook board! Kind of got buried in papers though. Maybe the commissioners do have a little spine (or were just sympathetic to the janitors who Todd fired to pay for the pinstripe patronage).
