  20. I made $188 million in 2015, spent about $70 million on my campaign, and bagged up the rest over here. Diana and I are running out of places to store it in Winnetka, we thought you folks might want to stack some cash bags up to keep the water out.

    Comment by 47th Ward Thursday, Jul 20, 17 @ 3:45 pm

  21. hmmm if we lowered workers comp coverage we could have filled twice as many sand bags.

Comment by Spliff Thursday, Jul 20, 17 @ 3:46 pm

  22. One thing I admire about Bruce Rauner is that the man is tough and committed to his cause. He made $176 million dollars in 2015, he could be anywhere on earth today, but he is touring flood damage. I understand he was a bit late in showing up, and for that he and his staff can be faulted, but I take away from this picture a man who is weary, and has the means to be anywhere he wanted to be taking it easy.

Bruce and Diana are purposely destroying Illinois.

They aren’t doing Illinois any favors. Ask social services that closed, ask those served by the social services that closed too.

  39. @ Saluki. There is no way that Rauner’s face is projecting empathy or sadness for Illinois residents. Remember, he cut funding for educational programming for kids with autism on National Autism Awareness day. He sat by while thousands of people lost their jobs. He does not care a whit about those people whose homes are flooded. His face is that of a person who has been inconvenienced by mother nature. I hope the flooding left a water stain on his Dolce & Gabbana shoes.

  54. I didn’t mean my comment as snark. I think sometimes I have let my general contempt for the man overrun my better angels. Bruce Rauner is not totally without empathy, and his job is not easy. Perhaps this kind of experience touring flooded out property will have an impact on him in a positive way. I am probably being overly optimistic today, but here is to hoping.
