Today, Daniel Biss announced the endorsement of Congresswoman Robin Kelly at a joint press conference before the Illinois Democratic County Chairman’s Brunch in Springfield.
“Illinois families deserve a governor who’s committed to creating jobs, empowering people with the skills for good-paying jobs and tackling gun violence. Daniel Biss has the experience to deliver on his promises,” said Congresswoman Kelly. “Daniel is a fighter for the forgotten and the middle class. He will be a strong, principled voice is Springfield for our values. I trust him to be my Governor and I hope you will too.”
“Congresswoman Kelly has been a fiercely independent voice throughout her career in public service,” said Daniel Biss. “From taking on and defeating an entrenched incumbent to pushing for common sense gun safety laws, Congresswoman Kelly has always followed her conscience amidst the moral chaos of Springfield and Washington. The longer he sticks around, the more difficult it will be for the money train to roll over him. Debates that include him will embarrass the other two. His strategy of continuing to cling to where he is might yield success. He should get an understanding from Pawar if he can. I think there will be more announcements like this from him over time. He may win the day in Dem news today. Especially since the event was purposely watered down.

Biss will remain a big underdog unless he can get Pawar to drop out of the race. Even then I wouldn’t call him the favorite but think he would have a legit chance.
The one thing to remember though if he starts gaining steam is that JB has ran zero attacks on his primary opponents. He seems content on winning while not burning bridges within the party. But if that turns out to not be an option I think Biss and Kennedy have to start dealing with some Ad time JB currently has directed at Rauner

Lol guy, I thought you had some inside scoop and I was curious, that’s all. I didn’t realize the “event” you were talking about was the Chairman’s breakfast. I thought you meant the endorsement itself was purposely watered down.
But glad to know Senator Biss is your preferred opponent. Gee, I wonder why?

Biss is staying relevant. I don’t think his competition is Pawar (who should drop out). Rather he might be the anti-establishment candidate. I definitely want to hear more of what he has to say.

Its not that Pawar is his competition, it is just that I feel like people who vote for Pawar probably would have Biss as their second choice. I feel like they are splitting the votes.

47, I guess that’s a compliment in your special way. lol. And here today, we’ve been in much agreement- which is a banner day for you in my world. I do think the endorsement for Biss is a big positive story of the day. I view Biss as somewhat of an unpredictable enigma- for both parties really. He’s not my cup of tea, as you will have gathered, but he’s a smart, likable guy who comes across as a very capable person.
He’s not my opponent of choice by a long shot partner. He’d be the most difficult to run against IMO. If he gets past a Billionaire and a Millionaire in his primary, what would make you think money would be the kryptonite against him in a general? It wouldn’t.
I’m not big on picking choices in the other party, but Biss would be the most unpredictable of that group and that’s the thing the creates higher concern. It’s pretty basic composing how to run against the others. So, I don’t really have a preference of who emerges, as much as who I’d be most concerned about. Biss is still a long shot. But he’s hanging in there and gathering some interesting and helpful support. He’s got enough money to get his message out, and will likely raise a lot more.
I’m not sure why the truest of Blues aren’t a little more enthusiastic about him. But that could all change over time.
Not having a blowout on Dem Day for a favorite is every bit as curious as the GOP not promoting 3 statewide offices. Equally confusing to me.

Biss ain’t stepping aside for anyone this time.
Pawar will become even more irrelevant over time. Biss’ future goes thru and past Kennedy. I don’t see how Biss wins the primary if Kennedy remains a significant factor.

When did I ever say that? I like Daniel and I’ll have no hesitation backing him 100% if he’s the nominee. As of today, with the exception of Hardiman, Drury and Daiber, I think any of the Democrats running can beat Governor Rauner.
And I’ll say one more thing, this endorsement is a very good “get” for Biss. It shows he has some appeal below Howard Street. The South Suburbs are strongly Democratic and if he can win Kelly’s district, he could end up as the nominee.

Are some here suggesting that Congresswoman Kelly’s endorsement is not very good for Biss and not so good for JB? I am not a person who takes great stock in media or other such endorsements. But it seems to me that Robin Kelly coming out for Biss at this point is actually a pretty big deal.

This is a great get and a very important endorsement for Biss.
To that,
Why I’ve liked how Biss has gone about his business is found in this endorsement.
Biss knows who he is, what his lane is, and is building within that lane and reaching beyond a base to build.
If you follow Biss’ Twitter or what they’re doing, they are trying to solidify his own credentials within his core, but the embracing of traditional endorsements of fellow GA members and members of Congress.
The trick for Biss in infrastructure is where Sanders excelled is getting the volunteers to build pods then real bases of support in the precincts and munis willing to work, walk, and get biters to vote Biss, outside the traditional, but with the credibility of someone like Comgresswoman Kelly.
This is Biss’ sweet spot growing. Now it’s making these types of things equate votes.
Good on Biss.

Well then 47, we’re not apart on Biss and his unique position and abilities here. If he’s in the Top 3 (actual percentages won’t matter that much) and he winds up on a stage debating Moe and Larry in a series of a few debates….He won’t become Curly. He’ll win those contests going away. He just needs to stay on the same lap as the leaders until then.
Days like today help him do that.

blue dog dem, the new grassroots groups do. The ones who will be the canvassers, GOTVers, fundraisers, and donors for the primary candidates. I’ve been at candidate forums hosted by groups all over the state and they are packed.
Many people are a lot more awake than they were before November, and that attention has spilled over to the state level.
