Rutherford cleared, but appeal is expected

A Cook County judge on Monday criticized the way former Republican state Treasurer Dan Rutherford ran his office, but ruled in his favor in a lawsuit filed by three former employees who alleged they were fired after cooperating in a sexual harassment investigation.

The three men, logistics manager Patrick Carlson, community affairs and marketing director George Daglas and investment director Ashvin Lad, didn’t prove at trial that they were fired in retaliation for corroborating another employee’s claims that he faced sexual harassment and political pressure at the hands of Rutherford, Judge James Synder ruled.

Attorneys for the ex-state treasurer have denied the allegations , saying the trio was let go after an inspector general’s report recommended they be fired over allegations of falsifying timekeeping records.

In his ruling Monday, the judge said he believed that’s why they were fired.

The three have vowed to appeal.

  1. Easy to be loose on the accuracy of time recording, until you need a reason to fire some specific person.

  4. As bad as Raunef has been, with 2 purges, Besler, Carl, etc…

… Rutherford’s “real time” implosion, the “Friday Fiasco” still eclipses Rauner’s own implosion, and that’s saying something.

This is just a reminder of that single day, that single presser where Staff and Crew utterly failed Rutherford in every measure, or Rutherford himself showed the worst possible political acumen that I can remember.

The campaign for governor died at that presser that had no reason to be called, and said nothing about anything which led to an ending.

  9. Aw, lol, I took the quotes as, indeed, snark, I was more giving the needle to the premise, probably unfairly that time.

    Sorry.

Your labeling is in the spirit I meant my comment too, lol

    To the Post,

Had the full legal cost been measured yet, and I’m talking about the cost of that, yet to be seen(?), internal investigation?

  10. Rutherford did incalculable damage to the other Republican gubernatorial hopefuls by remaining in the primary when it was clear that he was unelectable. The Michalowski case has an odor about it (he has worked for the Cook County Recorder of Deeds Yarborough ever since leaving the Treasurer).

  11. Rutherfords bad behavior cost the taxpayers half a million…
So nice he doesn’t have to pay for his own legal bills…

Rutherford was an obnoxious pol who once told me he couldn’t wait to best Jesse in a race for SOS…yeah, right…
