  1. Susana is a really great person. When it was Biss vs. Susanna (for a while) I recall a bunch of people saying that she was not nice. hilarious. soccer player, upbeat, never let’s up. great.

  2. Why isn’t Comptroller Mendoza a candidate for Governor?

I’ve been fortunate to meet her and watch her work crowds. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone who is as gifted as she is when it comes to presenting ideas and making it resonate with voters.

I don’t like Rauner, but right now the Dems aren’t giving me someone to vote for. Mendoza is someone I could vote for in a heartbeat.

  4. “The Very Hungry Caterpillar is spending more on food than it is making from being a caterpillar, so it’s gonna have to pay interest on all of its bills and stop eating so much…”

Comment by Ron Burgundy Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:00 pm

  5. And after that very hungry caterpillar ate all the food, he left without paying the bill, forcing all the little boy and girl caterpillars to pay for food they have not eaten, leaving them no money to buy food for themselves. Now do you children understand our state’s pension systems?

  6. ===Why isn’t Comptroller Mendoza a candidate for Governor===

The painted name change in her Comptroller door is still wet.

Right now, the best moves for Mendoza and Frerichs is to stay put. There is plenty of time for them both. Why rush?

    To the Post,

She is pretty good at that, keeping the kids engaged so the video look better than if she was drone reading and thd kid were either not paying attention or asleep.

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:03 pm

  7. we love the very hungry caterpillar in our household! as to a caption, “Ill do ANYTHING to earn your (2030) vote”

Comment by Undiscovered country Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:05 pm

  8. Why isn’t she running for Governor? Because she will be painted as Madigans candidate and fairly so. Oh did I forget to tell you she voted for almost every tax increase while in Springfield. Let’s see what a good candidate she is when Rauner really decides to put some serious money up to take her out.

  9. ===when Rauner really decides to put some serious money up to take her out===

Pretty sure he did that last year.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:10 pm

  10. That caterpillar wouldn’t be so very hungry if it had a horseshoe every once in a while.

Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:11 pm

  11. David Harris is a good legislator. While we don’t agree on everything, he smart, pragmatic, and works hard. Just think if we had legislators like him in abundance in Springfield.

Comment by Montrose Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:11 pm

  12. oops. wrong post. delete away.

Comment by Montrose Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:12 pm

  13. lol…

===Because she will be painted as Madigans candidate and fairly so.===

“Been there, done that”… Mendoza won.

    ===Oh did I forget to tell you===

Did you? I dunno. Did you? Is this you Gov. Rauner?

“You know what?”… No. What. What?

===…she voted for almost every tax increase while in Springfield.===

Good thing as Comptroller she isn’t voting on tax increases or signing them either.

===Let’s see what a good candidate she is when…===

Are you slamming “the Wingman”? She had every advantage you’d expect… Money, Incumbency, Rauner’s apparatus and Pluses…. you think she was bad? Holy Guacamole, that isn’t true.

===Rauner really decides to put some serious money up to take her out.===

Yeah, Rauner was only half-hearted saving Munger, only going half-speed, not fully engaged.

    lol

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:13 pm

  14. OW you have a short memory. It was you that spoke on Munger waiting to long with spending money and going after Mendoza. As for what Rich said in all due respect a couple million will pale in comparison to what he can and most likely do.

Comment by Old Timer Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:18 pm

  15. The story ends with the caterpillar changing to a butterfly - a metaphor for Mendoza’s future.

    Comment by We'll See Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:20 pm

  16. News item: In an effort to vastly improved the quality of legislators, State Treasurer Susana Mendoza has begun training Illinois youth in how to count.

“You gotta start somewhere,” says the crafty bean-counter.

  17. Sorry…Comptoller…

Comment by CSI Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:22 pm

  18. ===you have a short memory. It was you that spoke on Munger waiting to long with spending money and going after Mendoza.===

I did. If you’d like, I’ll pull up everything I said on that even warning Munger’s Crew that waiting too long may cost them.

    Waiting is a tactic.

The assets Munger had, and the using of them were the advantages Munger had.

===As for what Rich said in all due respect a couple million will pale in comparison to what he can and most likely do.===

Yeah, because Rauner wanted to spend $6-9 million and lose…

Are you serious or this one of those prank comments, lol

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:22 pm

  19. Munger has proved useless, wet blanket. All the Rauner money in the world wouldn’t fix her phony persona.

Comment by DeseDemDose Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:23 pm

  20. -DeseDemsDose- I don’t recall saying he is putting Munger back up to run. OW- he went frugal the first time and it has cost him dearly. The man is many things but dosent lack ego. He will spend whatever it takes to take her out, or at least try .

Comment by Old Timer Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:32 pm

  21. Still wearing JBT’s clothes, Susana?

Comment by Slender Stu from Cass Co. Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 1:34 pm

    Keep telling yourself that, lol

Spending history for races like comptroller say something different.

  23. ==As for what Rich said in all due respect a couple million will pale in comparison to what he can and most likely do.==

So he’s gonna spend more against Mendoza this time, while running his own race, too?

  25. She is very good at that. It’s possible that someday she may be our 1st female Governor.

Comment by Anonymous Tuesday, Aug 29, 17 @ 2:09 pm

  26. She’s not just good at this. She has a lovely voice and can’t seem to take a bad picture. She also seems to have a nice sense of humor.

Dislike all of this so much, I wish she was on our side.

  27. If she keeps this up, they’re all going to grow up to be poindexters. /s
