* Says the guy who just got hit with a “Pants on fire” rating from Politifact after using his own grandfather for (false) political spin…

Rauner tells kids the hardest adjustment since becoming governor is lack of privacy, and that political spin is "strange."

.@GovRauner says debating what's true is strange. "The facts should be the facts…In politics there's a lot of spin." https://t.co/SBdptqINwI

…Adding… I hadn’t thought of this, so it’s a twofer…

IRONY: @govrauner bemoans lack of privacy as governor days after vetoing geolocation privacy bill —> https://t.co/Wu7xD2iGJg https://t.co/uTGgEUxVQr

  1. Bet you didn’t see that coming. What world do you live in.

Comment by Red Rider Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:00 pm

  2. That quote from a guy that spins so much he should be Bruce “The Top” Rauner.

Comment by Big Joe Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:02 pm

  3. Did he tell the kids how he was able to divine verbatim both sides of a phone conversation between Madigan and Cullerton?

Or how in their very first meeting, Madigan got all chatty-Cathy about his darkest political motivations?

Rauner is the Burger King, home of the whopper.

  4. Rauner had this same discussion with Madigan, on the phone, on election night…

    “Privacy?”

You’re a public elected official. Besides the veto for Internet privacy, you seem to think serving the people means “keep the people and scrutiny at arms’ length”.

    That Bruce Rauner… lol

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:07 pm

  5. “The facts should be the facts” says the Governor Mendacity. Wow - what chutzpah.

Comment by Chicago Cynic Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:15 pm

  6. Rauner is the master of spin, deflecting everything to Madigan and so-called insiders, taking no responsibility himself. To him messaging/spin is everything. His audacious lying is truly stunning.

Comment by Grandson of Man Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:15 pm

  7. Keeping in mind that Rauner’s “Superstars” would say, all day, every day…

    “Pat Quinn fails…”

The spin was always to blame Quinn, not much to the substance of any issue or argument.

Bruce and Diana Rauner (her obsession with IPI messaging and her brand, included) have been about spin, not for better policy, but to be accepted at Winnetka Cocktail Parties.

That’s not spin, that’s how the RaunerS even met Hud, lol

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:18 pm

  8. And he says these whoppers to little kids. Who obviously don’t even vote. So why do it? The guy just can’t help himself.

Comment by Henry Francis Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:20 pm

  9. He wants privacy, and most people would love never having to look at him or hear him again. What a sweet agreement that would be.

Comment by Anonymous Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:45 pm

  10. Even with kids, this governor says that he is a victim. One of them should have told him that if couldn’t do the job, they would man up and govern instead.

Comment by VanillaMan Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 3:53 pm

  11. “The facts should be the facts”

    Yes they should.
Like accepting an AV with an immediate effective date also requires a 3/5ths vote.

This governor is the education governor in the sense that he’s still trying to learn how to be governor.

Comment by Michelle Flaherty Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 4:20 pm

  12. “I took a real wrecking ball to some people’s lives when I was in the private sector. But none of that really prepared me to undermine tens of thousands of families in need of human services, or threaten the education of hundreds of thousands of school children with a swoosh of my pen.

In the private sector, sticking it to hundreds of people could take years of planning. But as governor, I can throw hundreds of thousands into chaos with my auto pen and only a moment’ consideration.

It’s been a very big adjustment.”

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 4:44 pm

  13. ==The facts should be the facts==

Like running up $10 billion in debt?
Like failing to propose a balanced budget in 3 years?
Like bragging about a Turnaround Agenda that has a ROI of 1.4%?

Comment by Jocko Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 4:46 pm

  14. Super informative post, thanks.

    Comment by It's Demmer Time Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 5:37 pm

  15. Does Rauner dress up in a Governor Per Wee Herman costume for tall tale children’s parties?

Comment by DeseDemDose Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 6:03 pm

  16. lack of privacy, what facts is govenor transparency hiding from the FBI

Comment by Rabid Tuesday, Sep 26, 17 @ 3:38 am

  17. I’m sure Amazon and the new NGA.mil (National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency) down in St.Louis were NOT fans of privacy for Rauner or anyone in Illinois.
