New JB Pritzker ad features Secretary of State Jesse White

* Press release…

Today, the JB Pritzker campaign released a new TV ad, “Commitment.” The ad shows Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White talking about his support for JB for governor.

“JB has spent his life standing up for what’s right, fighting against discrimination, working for criminal justice reform, and being a national leader for early childhood education,” said Secretary of State Jesse White in the ad. “JB’s the one I trust for governor.”

“I’ve known Jesse for more than a quarter century, and I count myself among the many he inspires,” said JB Pritzker. “Together, we’re going to fight to put Springfield back on the side of working families and get Illinois children the education they deserve. Jesse White is the very definition of a public servant and I am so proud to have standing with me in this campaign.”

  1. It’s a good ad. A little too much like Jesse just reading, but I’m sure that’s the best way to lay down his track. Pretty well done.

  2. This is great and all, but I wish JB would create an ad with Mike Madigan for Halloween.

    …just to give everyone a good scare.

  3. It’s like half of a Jesse ad, but that’s probably OK. Probably suits both guys’ needs.

  4. Great ad. Nothing polarizing, just feel good politickin’. Man I wish there was some fresh polling data on this race.

  5. A. This is a good feel good ad for JB, and that’s largely because it’s a two-fer ad pointing to his connection with one politician, Jesse, who is not hated and is in fact respected by most voters. This is exactly the sort of non-controversial ad that JB *should* be running now as he is (sometimes awkwardly) still trying to introduce himself to the public.

    In the process Jesse, smartly, is getting free advertising for his campaign. Well done, guys.

  6. Very nice ad. Most popular politician in state. Hard to go wrong.

  7. Good ad. Who could legitimately criticize Jesse White?

    It reminds me of some ads local Republicans ran in ‘14- “State Senator so-and-so did NOTHING while Pat Quinn failed”. It was a hit on the local legislator, but more importantly another hit on Quinn.

    But this one, obviously, isn’t a negative spot.

    Respectfully…it’s very easy to go wrong. They just didn’t, so kudos to them. Jesse has a little baggage, and his ability to participate in an ad ain’t what it was 10 years ago or even 5 years ago. This was a supremely well done effort that had some challenges they overcame really well.

  10. It’s an A. Why? Sec. White is by far the most popular and respected politician in Illinois. This helps JB.

  11. Meh. They couldn’t get any video of Jesse and JB together? As a result it feels like a 15-second mini-spot for Jesse hitched to a 15-second mini-spot for JB. Doesn’t hurt but I don’t think it helps. C-

    They probably couldn’t. At least not effectively.
